Talkin' Sports: College Football, Alex Smith/Kaepernick, & Trade Rumors
The Colonel: I've completely stopped paying attention to college football these past couple of years. I mean I'm happy for Bama, Florida, LSU, and Auburn but I couldn't give a shit about those schools, cities, or states. Plus I hate the coaches in that league besides Les Miles.
49er16: I'm with you, despite one of them being fired today. Speaking of fired coaches, I like when schools dismiss coaches like Danny Hope and Tom O'Brien despite them leading their schools to bowl games. It's like Purdue and NC State think their schools are in the same class as Bama or Notre Dame.
The Colonel: Yeah that always gets me too. And it always makes me laugh when they think they're going to get some hot coach to coach their program. You're fucking NC State. Urban Meyer ain't walking through that door NC State. Hell Dan Mullen ain't even walking through that door. Danny Hope and Tom O'Brien are probably the best you're going to get.
49er16: It's funny though to laugh in their faces when those type of coaches turn them down. Then they have to retreat and get some retread like Houston Nutt or some dud like Randy Edsall. And you just know some retread is going to be coaching at Tennessee or NC State or Purdue next year. Hell I'll say Tom O'Brien goes back to Boston College.
The Colonel: That would be great if the Notorious TOB went back to BC. I doubt it happens though. And yes I'll guess Houston Nutt suckers some team into taking him as their coach. Or Ron Zook. If Bob Davie can find a job, so can Giggity Nutt.
49er16: Moving on, is this the most San Diego Chargers-Norv Turner loss ever? Give up a first down on a 4th and 100, give up game tying field goal, lose in OT. Seems like that has been the theme of the Chargers going back to their Marty days.
The Colonel: People always talk about Buffalo and Cleveland being cursed NFL teams, what about the Chargers? If this team isn't cursed then I don't know what team is? Look at some of their playoff losses. Some of the personnel moves they have made. This team is doomed.
49er16: Look at some of their coaches. Besides Bobby Ross, they have also made some not smart moves in terms of coaching hires. A retread Marty and a retread Norv. What a disaster.
The Colonel: How them 49ers? How about Buck and Aikman talking about the benching of Alex Smith like he was Joe Montana during the 1989 season. I mean how can you feel sorry for Alex Smith? He took less money to return to a team whose coach was looking to replace him with a broken necked Peyton Manning. And plus plenty of people have been fired from their jobs before.
49er16: Aikman whining about Smith being benched got old really soon during that game. You would have thought he was the one who got benched. For crying out loud it's Alex Fucking Smith. Not Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers. Plus Kaepernick can make throws that Smith can only dream about. He's a better option now just like how Peyton Manning was a better option at the beginning of the year.
The Colonel: Well that's the other thing. Smith is still very limited in the throws he can make. He can't throw downfield or stretch a defense. He can barely throw screen passes. He what he is. He can throw those little quick slants and passes 15-yards away from the line of scrimmage and that's it.
49er16: My favorite moments on Sunday both happened in Miami. First the sprinklers came on in the middle of the game at Joe Robbie Land Shark Sunkist Stadium. And then the Seahawks blew a 2nd half lead to Ryan Tannehill and lost on a last second field goal. Great Sunday in Miami.
The Colonel: How bush league is that. The more I look at that football stadium in Miami the more I think the taxpayers in that area paid for the wrong stadium. They should have built a new football stadium instead of lining Loria's pockets with money.
49er16: I noticed in that stadium the seats are a good 15 yards behind the sidelines. I'm sure the views in that stadium suck no matter where you're at in that place. What a dump.
The Colonel: Speaking of Miami, how about this story about Gincarlo Stanton being on the trade market. That article might as well say every team in baseball is going after Stanton but he'll only go to the highest bidder.
49er16: I'm sure if you threw in cash, Loria would except that trade. I also love in that same post a Boston writer suggests the Red Sox should go after Josh Hamilton or Joe Mauer. Not so much for the Hamilton rumor but the Mauer rumor. I love writers from these big cities who think teams like Minnesota or Seattle are just going to give away their best players to teams like Boston or New York.
The Colonel: THE SEATTLE MARINERS SHOULD GIVE THE YANKEES FELIX HERNANDEZ BECAUSE THEY'RE THE FUCKING YANKEES! /some New York writer right now
49er16: BUSTER POSEY SHOULD BE IN PINSTRIPES! WOULDN'T HE LOOK GOOD IN PINSTRIPES? I THINK HE WOULD. THE GIANTS SHOULD JUST GIVE POSEY TO THE YANKEES BECAUSE THEY'RE THE FUCKING YANKEES! /his buddy
