I've hammered away at MLB umpires this year. Their incompetence has gotten out of control. And MLB's reluctance to expand instant replay isn't helping matters. Well we have another example of MLB umpiring incompetence last night in the Yankees-Indians game. Dewayne Wise went for a foul ball and ended up in the seats. You can clearly see he didn't catch the ball but that didn't stop the umpire from saying he caught the ball and called the batter out.
Oy Ve. That's just plain old lazy umpiring right there. The ump made the call too fast without even looking to see if Wise you know actually caught the ball.
That ump admitted to blowing the call which is more than you can say about a lot of umpires who refuse to take responsibility for their blown calls. But still MLB needs instant replay badly and umps who blow calls need to be reprimanded. Either way changes need to be made.
It's time for a promotion/demotion system for MLB umps.
