Sadly this is our last Saturday of college football until the bowl games start. Like always the college football season flies by which always makes me sad. As for these championship games the only way I can describe my excitement level for these games is "meh". Which is the best way I guess you could describe this entire season for college football. Enough of being a Debbie Downer though, here's this week's Must List.
December 2nd
Pac-12 Championship Game: UCLA at Oregon, 8:00 (FOX: Gus Johnson, Charles Davis, Tim Brewster, John Lynch): With Slick Rick being shown the door before this game even takes place, I'd think I would bet Oregon and take the points. I would love to see UCLA pull off some miracle upset and watch them somehow end up in the Rose Bowl knocking either Oregon or Stanford out of the BCS picture. That's the ultimate pipe dream that will unfortunately never happen.
December 3rd
Conference USA Championship Game: Southern Mississippi at Houston, Noon (ABC: Mike Patrick, Craig James, Lisa Salters): With a victory the Houston Cougars could claim a BCS spot in the Sugar Bowl along with an ass-whipping from one of the SEC schools. Before we get ahead of ourselves though I would watch this game if I was you just to watch the magic that is the Houston offense. It's spectacular to watch. Even mesmerizing.
Texas at Baylor, 3:30 (ABC: Sean McDonough, Matt Millen, Samantha Steele): RG3 is always a must watch and he should be playing in this game after being knocked out in the last game. Meanwhile Texas is trying to salvage another mediocre year with a victory and a place in the Holiday Bowl.
SEC Championship Game: Georgia vs LSU, 4:00 (CBS: Verne Lundquist, Gary Danielson, Tracy Wolfson): I'm desperately rooting for Georgia in this game because I just don't want an all SEC national championship game. I believe Georgia does have what it takes to win this game. Their offense has vastly improved since the beginning of the year and they also have a solid quarterback. LSU though will probably be too strong defensively even though they have the pu-pu platter of quarterbacks to choose from.
B1G Championship Game: Wisconsin vs Michigan State, 8:00 (FOX: Gus Johnson, Charles Davis, Tim Brewster, Dhani Jones): No the Big Ten isn't paying people to attend their inaugural championship game so quit asking. The Big Ten has no problems with attendance. Especially when they retroactively place Michigan and Ohio State in this game and count the attendance at the Big House last weekend for the attendance for this game. Stop making up rumors guys.
Oklahoma at Oklahoma State, 8:00 (ABC: Brad Nessler, Todd Blackledge, Holly Rowe): OK State needs a victory and a LSU loss to get back into the national championship picture. Knowing OK State's luck though they'll lose this game and end up in the Cotton Bowl. That's the life story of the Oklahoma State football team.
ACC Championship Game: Clemson vs Virginia Tech, 8:00 (ESPN: Brent Musburger, Kirk Herbstreit, Heather Cox): Virginia Tech also has a chance at a spot in the national championship game. Like OK State though they need some things to go in their favor. Namely a win in this game and losses by both LSU and OK State. Stranger things have happened, but I doubt this is going to happen.
Recipe of the Week, Bread Pudding: One of my favorite desserts is bread pudding. It's also very simple to cook with very few ingredients. The only problem with this dessert is that it's very fattening and not the dessert you want to eat while watching your weight.
Alcoholic Beverage of the Week, Crown Royal: Once a year Crown Royal is always my alcoholic beverage of the week. In my opinion it's the finest, smoothest whiskey you can buy. It's also reasonably priced. I like to mix Crown Royal with either Pepsi or a Dr. Pepper. You should pick out your own drink though that you think you would like the most to mix with Crown.
What a disaster for the Pac-12 having UCLA in this game. Just a disaster.
