Thanksgiving week is rivalry week in college football. I plan on eating leftovers and watching college football all weekend. This is also an important week for college football not only because it's the last full weekend of college football, but because there are several BCS implications to these games. So without further ado, here's this week's must list.
Thursday, November 24th
Texas at Texas A&M, 8:00 (ESPN: Rece Davis, Jesse Palmer, Craig James, Jenn Brown): I'll be watching the Niners-Ravens game on Thursday night, but if that game is a blowout then I'll definitely check out this game which will be full of awkwardness. Texas A&M is fleeing the Big 12 because of Texas and their Longhorn Network. Awkward.
Friday, November 25th
Houston at Tulsa, Noon (FSN: Ron Thulin, JC Pearson, Emily Jones): Both of these teams are undefeated in their Conference USA division. Both teams are very exciting to watch on offense. I have no idea how I would bet on this game, but one thing is for certain is that I would definitely take the over in this game.
Arkansas at LSU, 2:30 (CBS: Verne Lundquist, Gary Danielson, Tracy Wolfson): Sorry Les Miles, but I'm rooting for Arkansas in this game. I want a three-way tie in the SEC East to create more chaos. I also want to hear one of the fanbases complain when it's their team who doesn't get to represent the SEC East in the SEC Championship game. Gut feeling is that LSU will win this game and the BCS won't be a mess because of it.
Saturday, November 26th
Ohio State at Michigan, Noon (ABC: Dave Pasch, Chris Spielman, Quint Kessenich): For the first time in what seems like forever, Michigan is the favorite in this game and they are expected to win this game. Michigan could also win whatever division their in with a win in this game and a Michigan State loss to Northwestern. That's never going to happen though. /RJBO'd
Georgia at Georgia Tech, Noon (ESPN: Mark Jones, Ed Cunningham): I always find it fascinating to watch Georgia Tech because of the triple-option. So I'm definitely watching this rivalry game. Meanwhile Georgia has wrapped up the SEC East and can use this game to prepare to be slaughtered by whatever SEC West team they'll face next week.
Iowa State at Oklahoma, Noon (FX: Gus Johnson, Charles Davis, Tim Brewster): Iowa State beat an undefeated OK State last week. Now watch since I'm talking about this game Iowa State will lose by 30 points to Oklahoma. Happens every time.
Alabama at Auburn, 3:30 (CBS: Verne Lundquist, Gary Danielson, Tracy Wolfson): I'm rooting for Awbren in this game because once again I want chaos in the SEC West and the BCS. Awbren doesn't have a chance to win this Arn Bowl. I'm still rooting for the underdog though.
Virginia Tech at Virginia, 3:30 (ABC: Joe Tessitore, Rod Gilmore, Lisa Salters): This is another game that could decide what team is playing in the conference championship. If Virginia wins this game, they'll face Clemson in the ACC Championship game. Virginia Tech meanwhile still has the slightest chance to play in the national championship but they need a victory this week and next.
Penn State at Wisconsin, 3:30 (ESPN: Sean McDonough, Matt Millen, Tom Rinaldi): You gotta love ESPN having Rinaldi stalking Penn State these past couple of weeks. If I was Tom Bradley I would file a restraining order. Back to the game for a moment, this is another match-up that will decide who is playing in a conference championship.
Clemson at South Carolina, 7:45 (ESPN: Brad Nessler, Todd Blackledge, Holly Rowe): I just want to see Clemson lose again. I want to see their BCS bowl bid slip away. Why? Because Fuck Clemson that's why. That's the only reason you need.
Notre Dame at Stanford, 8:00 (ABC: Brent Musburger, Kirk Herbstreit, Heather Cox): Depending on how the cannonball splash plays out in the BCS after the next couple of weeks and if the Irish win this game, Notre Dame could possibly play in a BCS game. You just know the people running the bowl games are salivating at the chance Notre Dame could play in the BCS because they have a large fanbase and that's what all matters to these BCS bowl games.
Recipe of the Week, Deep Fried Turkey: I've had turkey a couple of ways for Thanksgiving. The regular cooked bird in the oven and turkey smoked in the BBQ. I've never had a deep fried bird. Now you're always going to need lots of time and ingredients to cook a turkey, but deep frying a turkey takes a little less time. For every pound of the bird, cook for three minutes. This method will take less time to cook and it's also a different way to eat turkey on Thanksgiving.
Alcoholic Beverage of the Week, Pappy Van Winkle: I feel like the only type of beverage you can drink this weekend is bourbon. Pappy Van Winkle is your best choice. It's a 90 proof, 20-year aged bourbon that is one of the smoothest drinks I've ever tasted. I would drink this after your Thanksgiving meal to help digestion.
Michigan could also win whatever division their in with a win in this game and a Michigan State loss to Northwestern. That's never going to happen though. /RJBO'd
ReplyDeleteSparty clinched the Division with their 55-3 win over Indiana Saturday.
/shows self out
Really interesting ESPN isn't letting Urban Meyer work the Michigan/O$U game Saturday.
ReplyDeleteI'm just disappointed the @FakeTomRinaldi twitter account shut down so soon. That was comedy gold.
ReplyDeleteDamn. I was hoping Michigan still had a chance to win whatever division they're in.
