Fun with Wikipedia

You have to love Wikipedia. I love Wikipedia because there's links to actual articles in the footnotes of each page that can be actually useful. It's still a site though that's about half accurate because anyone can edit the individual pages.

My favorite Wikipedia pastime though is when a athletes/coach page has been screwed around with. It's usually been changed by a bitter fan who is upset for whatever reason with this person. Or it's been changed because someone screwed up. Here are my favorite Wikipedia 'edits'.

My favorite random Wikipedia entry is that of Western Kentucky's basketball coach Ken McDonald. I have no idea why he's hated, but someone changed his Wikipedia entry.
McDonald spent from 2004 to 2008 at Texas under Rick Barnes. He previously worked as an assistant at Western Kentucky under Dennis Felton, from 1998–2003, helping the Hilltoppers reach the NCAA tournament during his final three seasons with the program. McDonald has one daughter - Ella, born January 28, 2008. He is currently working on destroying one of the greatest traditions in college basketball.
The Jacksonville Jaguars have been busy today. Not only did they fire Jack Del Rio they also announced that Wayne Weaver would be selling the team to a man named Shahid Kahn. Kahn is was born in Pakistan and moved to the States as a teenager is predictably the target of racist remarks because of his nationality. And then there's Wikipedia. Look at the bottom of the early life entry.
And finally. This his past Sunday the Browns Jerome Simpson drew an unsportmanslike penalty from Scott Fujita when Simpson clearly flopped and hilariously flopped. So of course someone had a little fun with Simpson's Wikipedia page.
During Week 12 of the 2011 NFL season, Jerome Simpson was nominated by the Academy of Arts and Sciences for an award in the upcoming 2012 Primetime Emmy Awards airing on ABC September 23, 2012 for his acting skills during the NFL season.

During the second quarter of the Cincinnati Bengals' game against the Cleveland Browns, Jerome Simpson was pushed by Browns LB Scott Fujita during a scramble for a loose football. Jerome Simpson proceeded to fly four yards back into the air like a character in the Matrix movie trilogy. Fujita was assessed an unsportmanslike conduct penalty on the play which was off-set by a Bengals penalty.

Jerome Simpson's acting skills was heralded by many critics as the best acting job since Taylor Lautner in the Twilight movie saga.

For instance, Eric Bowman of Bleacher Report said "Enjoy your award Jerome, you certainly deserved it."

Meanwhile, Steven Douglas of BigLeadSports writes, "I can’t stop watching this dive. It is glorious."

Jerome Simpson was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in the Sports Team Category. He is expected to win the award against fellow NFL player and nominee Ndamukong Suh for his acting in trying to explain why he viciously stomped on an opposing players' arm.

In light of his acting, many Italian Serie A soccer teams have expressed interest in signing Jerome Simpson. Those rumored to bidding for his services are Juventus and Football Club Internazionale Milan.

Famed Portuguese soccer star and Real Madrid striker, Cristiano Ronaldo is said to have studied Simpson vigorously.
God bless Wikipedia

  1. Too bad you missed the Randy Edsall Wikipedia edit saying he was looking to leave Maryland to pursue his dream job as a prison warden.
