College Football Open Thread: Week 11

Another strong slate of college football games today with a great nightcap featuring Oregon at Stanford. I'm looking forward to all the games today and I hope you are too. So enjoy whatever game you're watching, leave comments, and don't be a troll.

  1. Gameday ended early to show the Penn State stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  2. Very cool scenes from Happy Valley.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Did Rece really say that it was ironic that the crowd would have a moment of silence since silence is what got the school in trouble?

    ReplyDelete
  4. Urban Meyer's father passed away yesterday, so it is just Pasch and Spielman in the booth today at Happy Valley.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Tom Rinaldi: "The victims of child support...I mean..." #Whoops

    ReplyDelete
  6. Brando calling the South Carolina-Florida game.

    ReplyDelete
  7. @ Keith: Yes. Yes he did.

Strange from him, because Rece Davis has not been one of those people bashing Penn State this week.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Craig James is on Michigan-Illinois? I am so sorry, RJBO.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I'm watching the Penn State game. How's Brando?

    ReplyDelete
  10. They have two sideline reporters for this? Geez.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Sparty having no troubles early on in Iowa City. 14-0 already for M-S-U.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Something Pasch, Spielman, Rinaldi, and Salters will not mention today: Jay Paterno is terible at coaching football.

    ReplyDelete
  13. IT'S THE OLE RE-DIRECTION TIP DRILL! 1st down Penn State in Nebraska territory!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Way to throw yourself into that block, McGloin......

    ReplyDelete
  15. 47 yards for Fera. And that was ugly. Still scoreless in Happy Valley.

    ReplyDelete
  16. John Brantley is terrible. Florida is in real trouble if they can't find a QB.

    ReplyDelete
  17. "A good ole rockin-sock em start defensively for both teams."-Brando

    ReplyDelete
  18. PbP is actually a better spot for Brando (follow me for a moment): more bad puns, yes, but less time for him to pontificate on his pulpit for something not relating to the game he's calling. #StillEarly

    ReplyDelete
  19. Marvin McNutt reached back for an amazing one-handed catch!

    ReplyDelete
  20. I'm waiting for Brando to say, "Florida is Rainey on South Carolina's parade."

    ReplyDelete
  21. I'm sure Brando would rather read another Lizard Lick Towing promo than another 2 Broke Girls one. #Awkward

    ReplyDelete
  22. Devon Still has been all over the place thus far.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Purdue beating Ohio State 10-0. Not at all good for anOSU. Excellent for Penn State and Wisconsin.

That game's on the B1G Network.

    ReplyDelete
  24. That game's on the B1G Network.

    #KeepIt. I'm already having a Hell of a time flipping between NEB-PSU, Sparty-Iowa, FLA-SCar & OkieState-TxTech.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Well.....I can eliminate OkieState-TxTech. 21-0 Cowpokes, especially if Bob Wischusen is angling for Brandon Weeden to get some Heisman Love.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Brando after some awkward silence after the GOP Primary promo: "We can say politically the Palmetto State always figures into the equation, doesn't it? It does."

    ReplyDelete
  27. Why do I always end up watching the games with no scoring?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Get these promos away from Brando & Spencer Tillman! HELP! #Hawaii5-0

    ReplyDelete
  29. Oklahoma State is demolishing Texas Tech.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Still 3-0 Florida after a wide right FG by South Carolina. #zzzzzzzz

    ReplyDelete
  31. Brett Maher sneaks it in from 41 yards out. 3-0 Huskers.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Weeden is 16-18 with 3 TDs already? Geez. Maybe he should be in the Heisman talk. #ChrisWeinke2.0

    ReplyDelete
  33. Holy Shit that derp by Texas Tech.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Keshawn Martin kept an errant Cousins pass from being picked and turned it into a loooooong gain to the Iowa 5!

    35-0 Cowpokes now. Cripes.

    ReplyDelete
  35. 35-0 Pokes. 14:33 left in the 2nd quarter. Wow.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Amazing part about the Texas Tech-OK State game is that Tech has ran three more plays than OK State.

    ReplyDelete
  37. The games next week are so weak, Gameday will be at the UH-SMU game.

    ReplyDelete
  38. There isn't a D-III game Gameday can go to?

Miracle of miracles, South Carolina scores a TD.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Purdue up 17-7 on Ohio State. Could an upset be brewing on the B1G Network?

    ReplyDelete
  40. Would that really be considered an upset, Justin?

    ReplyDelete
  41. Rice beat Purdue. I'd consider Purdue beating (even a weakened) AnOSU an upset.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Touchdown Joseph Randle. Make it stop, Okie State.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Touchdown M-S-U. 23 yard run by Le'Veon Bell. At least one Michigan team isn't having any trouble in Iowa City.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Tim Brando, Gary Danielson and the CBS Studio B-team will talk about the Penn State scandal at the half. So much for no "pontification" from Brando today....

    ReplyDelete
  45. Defensive pass interference on Penn State on 3rd and 10. Bleh.

    ReplyDelete
  46. 10-0 Nebraska. This game is over.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Speaking of games being over, 31-7 Sparty before halftime on a beautiful TD catch by BJ Cunningham.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Tim Brando keeps RTing his daughter's pimping of his work.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Of course Brando's daughter is named Tiffany and looks like him.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I'd never thought that AnOSU-Purdue would be the best Noon game going today. #Lowbar

John Brantley is leading a drive into South Carolina territory.

    ReplyDelete
  51. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  52. 56-6 Cowpokes. Switch me to WVU-Cincy, please. Yes, I know it's on ESPN3.

Stop me if you've heard this before: Florida's offense bogs down, and settles for a FG.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I'd never thought that AnOSU-Purdue would be the best Noon game going today. #Lowbar

Never underestimate the power of games on the B1G Network.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I spoke too soon. Wake Forest is leading Clemson 21-14 early in the 3rd quarter.

    ReplyDelete
  55. This is the Clemson everyone knows

    ReplyDelete
  56. Tajh Boyd has 3 INTs today, and 2 Wake defenders fought each other for a 4th and dropped it.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I amend my earlier post. Boyd only has 2 INTs after the most recent one. Don't rely on the ESPNU announcers......

    ReplyDelete
  58. GREAT CATCH BY MOYE! 1ST AND GOAL PENN STATE!

    ReplyDelete
  59. 33 yard TD run by Pendergrass. Touchdown Wake Forest.

    ReplyDelete
  60. STEPHFON GREEN! TOUCHDOWN PENN STATE!

    ReplyDelete
  61. @RJBO: Just another spin on the #ACCWheelofDestiny...

    ReplyDelete
  62. A Tajh Boyd TD wiped out by an illegal formation. Typical.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Touchdown Clemson, Boyd to Ford, but there's a review.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Yeah, this is a huge 3rd down for Penn State's defense.

    ReplyDelete
  65. DROPPED! Penn State's defense force the Nebraska punt.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Call stands of a TD in (the other) Death Valley. 28-21 Wake.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I'll be back at 12:30. I'm going to grab lunch.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Hahahaha Nebraska. Unnecessary roughness on them after Penn State got off a 54 yard punt. Net of 69 for the Nittany Lion.

    ReplyDelete
  69. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Brando: "While we were away, Case Keenum getting up gingerly." You mean Connor Shaw. #CloseEnough

    ReplyDelete
  71. HAHAHAHA CLEMSON! Boyd stopped on 4th and 1 at your own 35! Dumb!

    ReplyDelete
  72. Burkhead is devouring Penn State's defense.

    ReplyDelete
  73. FUMBLE! PENN STATE SAYS THEY HAVE IT! THEY DO!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  74. Wake Forest stalls, then Jimmy Newman misses the 32 yard FG.

    Rob Stone: "Newman!" Thanks, Rob.

    ReplyDelete
  75. What on earth is Bo Pelini crying about?

    ReplyDelete
  76. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Rough spot for Stephfon Green. And it will be reviewed.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Beth Mowins on Iowa's 4th and 6 incompletion: "Uncomplete." #CloseEnough

    ReplyDelete
  79. Touchdown Clemson! Tajh Boyd to Brown! Tied at 28 in Death Valley

    ReplyDelete
  80. HOLY BAG OF TRICKS PENN STATE! MCGLOIN WITH A FIRST DOWN CATCH AT THE FIVE!

    ReplyDelete
  81. STEPHFON GREEN! TOUCHDOWN PENN STATE!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  82. "That may be the first time Jay Paterno has smiled all week." - Dave Pasch

    17-14 Nebraska with 5:42 left.

    ReplyDelete
  83. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  84. INCOMPLETE! Penn State force a punt! 4:01 left!

    ReplyDelete
  85. Nice 61 yard punt. Downed at the 11. 3:52 left in State College.

    ReplyDelete
  86. OH MY GOSH OHIO STATE DID THAT JUST HAPPEN?!?!? WOW!

    ReplyDelete
  87. Does B1G football get any better than this?

    ReplyDelete
  88. Buckeyes use a timeout; 37 seconds left, Purdue driving into GW FG range.

    ReplyDelete
  89. With Silas Redd injured, Penn State are so thankful that Stephfon Green has come to play today.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Silas Redd back in the game now. Interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Clemson just missed a game-leading FG. 1:18 left, tied at 28.

    ReplyDelete
  92. SIGH. An INT will send AnOSU-Purdue into OT in West Lafayette.

    ReplyDelete
  93. It will be reviewed, but there is no way this gets overturned.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Clemson to Wake's 34 after a spike. 15 seconds left.

    ReplyDelete
  95. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Last timeout for Penn State. 3rd and 4 for Nebraska.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Boyd to Humphries for 9 yards. Timeout Clemson with 7 seconds left looking at a 42 yard GW FG.

    ReplyDelete
  98. BURKHEAD IS SHORT! Decision time for Nebraska.

Nebraska has a decision to make.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Timeout Nebraska with 54 seconds left.

    ReplyDelete
  100. If I am Nebraska, I think the best decision is to go for it.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Basil's 33 yard FG gives AnOSU a lead in OT, 23-20.

    ReplyDelete
  102. SHORT! 49 SECONDS LEFT! NO WAY BURKHEAD GOT IT!

    ReplyDelete
  103. I said it last week, I'll say it again today. Back-to-back timeouts to ice a FG try should be outlawed in college football.

    ReplyDelete
  104. That's at least half a yard short, maybe a full yard short.

Penn State ball. 49 seconds left. 3-point game. Here. We. Go.

    ReplyDelete
  105. If Penn State had an offense, I would be excited about this ending.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Robert Marve with a hard run for a FD. Sorta makes up for the silly INT while in FG range in regulation. #No

    ReplyDelete
  107. CAUGHT! 1ST DOWN MARVE TO BUSH AT THE OSU 1!

    ReplyDelete
  108. TOUCHDOWN PURDUE! THEY WIN IT IN OVERTIME!

    ReplyDelete
  109. Army vs Rutgers at Yankee Stadium?

    ReplyDelete
  110. All things considered, Dave Pasch and Chris Spielman did a real good job with what must not have been an easy game to call.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Justin Kutcher? Really?? I'd rather have Pam Ward call Michigan-Illinois.

    ReplyDelete
  112. I've never heard of Justin Kutcher.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Justin Kutcher usually does low-level college or high school games on ESPNU.

    ReplyDelete
  114. After being put through the ringer and then some this week, that Penn State managed only to lose by 3 to a good Nebraska team speaks volumes.

Unfortunately for Penn State, they have got Ohio State and Wisconsin on the road in their last two games.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Congrats, Justin. You have more Twitter followers than Justin Kutcher. #390To360

    ReplyDelete
  116. I am watching the Battle for Paul Bunyan's Axe on the B1G Network.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Oh Shit. This might be a repeat of last year's Michigan-Illinois game if the defenses play like this. What a run by Toussaint.

    ReplyDelete
  118. @ RJBO: Hahahahaha I feel so proud.

/never heard of Justin Kutcher before today

    ReplyDelete
  119. What a catch by that BSU player.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Georgia leads Auburn 7-0 after an Aaron Murray TD pass.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Gary Thorne is calling the Army-Rutgers game on CBS College Sports.

    ReplyDelete
  122. ABC/ESPN couldn't use Gary Thorne. They have Justin Kutcher!

    ReplyDelete
  123. Touchdown Wisconsin.

BBC has the perfect description for Jerry Sandusky.
    http://lockerz.com/s/155597152

    ReplyDelete
  124. I hope RJBO was not watching that commercial on the B1G Network..........

    ReplyDelete
  125. I'm flipping between Michigan-Illinois and Auburn-Georgia, Justin. Which Michigan heartbreak was it? Evan Turner's buzzer-beater?

    ReplyDelete
  126. Michigan forces the Illini to back-to-back 3 and outs...which I don't think happened in last year's contest.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Touchdown Wisconsin. They now lead Minnesota 14-0.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Another long run for Fitz Toussaint. Already with 100 yards rushing for Michigan.

    ReplyDelete
  129. @ RJBO: The Josh Gasser buzzer beater from last season.

    ReplyDelete
  130. @ RJBO: Congrats to Eastern Michigan for becoming bowl eligible.

/still may not make a bowl game
    //MAC gets no respect
    ///Temple last year

    ReplyDelete
  131. Eastern barely averages 10,000-15,000 per home game. They are certainly not an attractive bowl candidate.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Nothing going Minnesota's way. Holy crap. Has there ever been a punt with that much English on it? Geez.

    ReplyDelete
  133. It's worse attendance than I thought: EMU averages right around 4,000 per home date this season. That's sickly. They might need to drop to FCS.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Who's going into the hedges today?

    ReplyDelete
  135. Boise State has two great running backs.

    ReplyDelete
  136. Toon. Touchdown Wisconsin.

Hopefully Illinois gives Wisconsin a better game next week.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Why couldn't you do as good a job on Marvin McNutt last week as you're doing on A.J. Jenkins, J.T. Floyd?

    ReplyDelete
  138. HAHAHA ILLINOIS! 13 yard punt by DuVernois.

    ReplyDelete
  139. Holy shit that was a bomb by Pachall to Brandon Carter for a 75 yard TD!

    ReplyDelete
  140. Stop it Boise State with the Seven Nation Army.

    ReplyDelete
  141. Denard to Kevin Koger to the Illini 3! #LoftedPassCaught

    ReplyDelete
  142. You are down 21-0 in the 2nd quarter against a superior opponent. Why are you kicking a field goal?

Oh it's a fake! Touchdown Minnesota!

    That was clever.

    ReplyDelete
  143. Top of the 3rd, FSU 3, Miami 2 after a Marshall McDougal 2-run homer. #I'mAHack

    ReplyDelete
  144. And Minnestoa misses the extra point. Derp.

    ReplyDelete
  145. 3RD TOUCHDOWN RUN FOR DENARD! But it'll be reviewed....and he stepped out at the 2.

    ReplyDelete
  146. Heh. Marshall McDougall had his 6 home run, 16 RBI game against Maryland. #1999FSUBaseball

    ReplyDelete
  147. DENARD IS STUFFED AT THE 4! ILLINOIS HOLDS!

    ReplyDelete
  148. Just rubbing salt in Kris' wounds

    ReplyDelete
  149. First play after stopping Michigan, Illinois fumbled it right back to the Wolverines.

    ReplyDelete
  150. I didn't mean to, Keith. Miami-FSU had the 3-2 baseball score and Marshall McDougall was the 1st name I could think of.

    ReplyDelete
  151. I think of Buster Posey when I think of Florida State baseball.

    ReplyDelete
  152. Apparently the turf at Yankee Stadium is absolutely horrible. Heh.

    ReplyDelete
  153. Thanks, ABC for the BottomLine score fail. It's only 3-0 FSU.

    ReplyDelete
  154. Sigh, and Denard turns the ball over in the Red Zone. Typical.

    ReplyDelete
  155. Minnesota derp. Somehow a pass to a wide open receiver turned into an interception.

    ReplyDelete
  156. @ RJBO: I turned on ESPN and I saw 3-2 as well. Was it overturned by replay?

    /wasn't paying attention

    ReplyDelete
  157. I wasn't paying attention, either, Justin. I guess it was.

    ReplyDelete
  158. Maybe you might want to cover somebody, Boise......

69 yard TD pass Pachall to Boyce.

    ReplyDelete
  159. And that Minnesota turnover resulted in a Wisconsin touchdown. 28-6 Badgers.

    ReplyDelete
  160. Craig James on how many stadiums are named to honor those who served our country in the B1G (answer is half; 6/12): "I'm no math major. 6 out of 10 is 60%." There are 12 teams in the Big Tweleven now there, Craigy.

    ReplyDelete
  161. So, Miami-Florida State is the best football game on right now?

    ReplyDelete
  162. Another touchdown for Georgia. These games are clunkers.

    ReplyDelete
  163. @ RJBO: Unfortunately I do not get Versus on TV up here.

    /looks for online streams
    //this is getting absurd

    ReplyDelete
  164. The Auburn Institute of Exploding Dog Studies is getting hammered.

    ReplyDelete
  165. 14-0 Michigan at the half. They've left at least 10 points on the field in the 1st half. Illinois should get their act together on offense.

    Back in 30.

    ReplyDelete
  166. All these games just have to be at halftime right now.

    ReplyDelete
  167. Kick return touchdown for Minnesota to start the 2nd half! Maybe there will be some drama on the B1G Network after all

    ReplyDelete
  168. @ Keith: Wisconsin-Minnesota on the B1G Network is no longer at halftime!

    ReplyDelete
