Must List: Week 6

I gotta be honest folks. This might be the weakest college football weekend in a very long time. There's only two games I'm remotely interested in and the night games are especially weak. So my suggestion this week would be to watch games up till the LSU vs Florida game is over and then go out and watch a movie. Here are some games you might want to just check out if you're inside this weekend.

Announcing schedule via the506.

Thursday October, 6th
Cal at Oregon, 9:00 (ESPN: Rece Davis, Jesse Palmer, Craig James, Jenn Brown): Two themes I expect from this game. One the fact that Cal players faked injuries against Oregon will most likely be discussed profusely during the broadcast. Second I fully expect Cal to get their ass kicked and this game will most likely be over by halftime. Luckily for me I can listen to the Cal broadcast instead of listening to Craig James.

Friday October, 7th
Boise State at Fresno State, 9:00 (ESPN: Joe Tessitore, Rod Gilmore): This game will probably be a blowout but I would check it at the start of the game to watch Kellen Moore and to procrastinate from any chores you might have to do.

Saturday, October 8th
Texas vs Oklahoma, Noon (ABC: Brent Musburger, Kirk Herbstreit, Erin Andrews): This is definitely the game of the week. Once Texas found the right quarterback they've been on a roll offensively. Oklahoma already has an explosive offense but it always seems like they take a while to get going. If they start slowly could Texas win this game? Also it fascinates me that this game is always played at 11 AM in Dallas because the Texas State Fair doesn't want drunk Texas and Oklahoma fans in the stands during the game.

Maryland at Georgia Tech, Noon (ESPNU: Rob Stone, Danny Kanell): I want to watch this game for two reasons. I want to see how horrible the Maryland uniforms and I want to see Georgia Tech destroy Maryland by running the ball 500 times on Saturday.

Florida at LSU, 3:30 (CBS: Verne Lundquist, Gary Danielson, Tracy Wolfson): Sadly this is the only other game truly checking out. I say sadly because Florida has to start a true Freshman quarterback in this game. At least Florida knows who's starting for them this weekend. LSU is still trying to decide whether to start Jarrett Lee or Jordan Jefferson.

Air Force at Notre Dame, 3:30 (NBC: Tom Hammond, Mike Mayock, Alex Flanagan): Air Force blew a lead last week to Navy before catching a break and eventually beating the Midshipmen. I gotta see Notre Dame stop the Air Force option. I can see Brian Kelly blowing a blood vessel watching the Irish defense trying to get off the field.

Missouri at Kansas State, 3:30 (ABC: Carter Blackburn, Brock Huard): I gotta admit that the Kansas State offense is kind of fun to watch. They're very explosive and just fun to watch. I fully expect this game to be a barn burner.

Auburn at Arkansas, 7:00 (ESPN: Brad Nessler, Todd Blackledge, Holly Rowe): Arkansas is another team that is fun to watch while it feels like Auburn has a lucky horseshoe stuck up their rear ends because they just keep winning. And yes Auburn fans I'm hating on Auburn. WAR DAMN HATE!

Texas A&M at Texas Tech, 7:00 (FX: Gus Johnson, Charles Davis, Tim Brewster): Finally Gus Johnson gets a game between two high scoring games. And as Spencer Hall brought up on EDSBS, it's weird that Tommy Tuberville has continued the Air Raid offense at Texas Tech. Everyone believed Tuberville would revert back to his Auburn days of just strictly running the ball.

Ohio State at Nebraska, 8:00 (ABC: Sean McDonough, Matt Millen, Heather Cox): See what I mean about going out for a movie once the LSU vs Florida game is over? Ohio State which has one of the worst offenses of all-time will be on full display during primetime. Thanks for the scheduling ESPN. No one wants to watch this game.

Recipe of the Week, Pumpkin Bars: Where I'm living the fall is finally here. It's no longer in the 90's so I put the BBQ away for the winter (or at least I put the BBQ under the oning). This is the time of the year to warm up the oven and start baking theme deserts. So that's why Pumpkin bars are the recipe of the week. Plus I needed a reason to imagine eating delicious sweets.

Alcoholic Beverage of the Week, Kraken: I've always seen EDSBS commentators talk about Kraken black spiced rum so I decided to try it myself. It's definitely worth the hype. I prefer my Kraken with Pepsi, but whatever is your soda of choice will go along just well with Kraken.

  3. Speaking of the Utes and ASU, looks like Jon Hays will start for us at QB in place of the (again) injured Jordan Wynn. Hays looked okay in the garbage time snaps he had last week, but the Sun Devils might tear us a new one. It also went from August to November here in Salt Lake in about 24 hours though, and I'd be shocked if the gametime temp was above 50 tomorrow. We'll see.
