College Football Open Thread: Week 9

Here's your open thread for today's college football action. The Kansas State vs Oklahoma game should be really good. I should be around for most of the day, so I'll be hanging our here. Enjoy whatever game you're watching, leave comments, and don't be a troll.

  1. Wolverines burned by the TerBush to Bush combination. 7-0 Purdue. Ugh...

    ReplyDelete
  2. Touchdown Shoelace. First team to 41 wins in Ann Arbor today.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Touchdown Nebraska! 7-0 Cornhuskers

    ReplyDelete
  4. Cousins sure does love throwing the ball into double coverage.

    ReplyDelete
  5. "Purdue is worried about the noise level" in Michigan Stadium, Mike Bellotti? #JinglesKeys

    ReplyDelete
  6. Hoke & Al Borges are committed to this DenardNer combo at QB. I could deal with that, as long as they ditch the HB pass that nearly was picked.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Boilermakers have a TerBush, Bush & Crank on their roster. #Juvenile

    ReplyDelete
  8. Dear Lord. Both Michigan schools are shitting the bed.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Both halves of DenardNer have a pick. This "heave it as far as you can" pass play should go as well.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Oh B1G refs. That should've been a facemask against Michigan.

    ReplyDelete
  11. The Children of the Corn are freaking me out.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Robert Marve leading a Purdue drive into Michigan territory.

Anyone not a fan of either team should watch some real football elsewhere.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Sadly RJBO, there isn't much interesting football this morning.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Mizzou-aTm is interesting in a "defense optional" way on FX. #Stretch

    ReplyDelete
  15. Denard continues to get away with those back foot heaves toward the end zone.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Just leave Robinson in the game the entire time Hoke/Borges. He's your best chance for victory.

    ReplyDelete
  17. "What we're seeing now is Big 12 football." - Charles Davis

    ReplyDelete
  18. Taylor Martinez: 1 completion for 0 yards. #B1GFootball

    ReplyDelete
  19. Jordan Rodgers is making Chico proud today.

    ReplyDelete
  20. The Bloom game starts at 2:30 ET today. Penn State starts at 3:30. I will definitely sit outside in the snow for the first hour, and then re-evaluate and decide how much longer I should stay. It's snowing at PSU as well.

    Touchdown A&M

    ReplyDelete
  21. Sparty and Nebraska have combined for more punts than completions. B1G FOOTBALL Y'ALL

    ReplyDelete
  22. I'm flipping the other HD channel between Mizzou-aTm & Arkansas-Vandy. I can't take another second of that game in Lincoln.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Damnit it should not be snowing like this on October 29. Snow! Heavy snow! High accumulating snow! October 29!

    ReplyDelete
  24. B1G Football: What the fuck is a forward pass?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Illinois-Penn State went from miss to watch for me, merely for the snow. #5-0NittanyLions

    ReplyDelete
  26. At least they believe in points in Indiana.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I hate this Arby's Angus Philly commercial.

    ReplyDelete
  28. There's almost 700 yards of total offense in the N'Western-Indiana game, and it's not even halftime.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Beaver Stadium at the moment
    http://twitpic.com/77p69p

    ReplyDelete
  30. Why does it always feel like these morning games drag on?

    ReplyDelete
  31. @ RJBO: B1G Football at its finest! Only on the B1G Network!

    ReplyDelete
  32. This is where I miss John L. Smith. He'd be screeching about the Sparty offense in that interview going into the locker room.

That and he's a terrible coach.

    ReplyDelete
  33. After looking at that photo, I'm definitely watching the Penn State game now.

/I'm finally not so cheap and ordered the sports package so I finally get the B1G Network, MLB Net, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  34. If the rain changes to snow in Piscataway, I might dial up WVU-Rutgers on ESPN3. #LoveSnowGames

    ReplyDelete
  35. Damn. It's snowing for the Rutgers game, too. #FuckFlorida-Georgia

    ReplyDelete
  36. Not as cool as in Beaver Stadium, but: http://twitpic.com/77neuj

    ReplyDelete
  37. @RJBO: Did you join the world of Twitter?

    ReplyDelete
  38. I'm still a Twitter holdout. #LivesInTheStoneAge

    ReplyDelete
  39. Vandy leads #10 Arkansas, 21-14 at the half, plus they get the ball to start the 2nd half.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Cal-Penn's band is playing "O Come all Ye Faithful" in a snow game!

    ReplyDelete
  41. "Cowboys waive Tashard Choice."
Can the Lions sign him before the game versus the Tebows?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Wolverines get stuffed on 4th and goal from the 1. Purdue isn't dead yet.

    ReplyDelete
  43. This is how they chill beer in Happy Valley. http://kegsneggsblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/n0kju.jpg

    ReplyDelete
  44. Mowins to Bellotti: "Did you have that (juke move) in your days at UC Davis?"
Bellotti: "I didn't have the hip flexibility."

    ReplyDelete
  45. 59 yard TD run for Fitz Toussaint. Hopefully that puts away the Boilers.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Going to the local Snow Bowl. Be back when the game is over or parts of my body start freezing off, whichever comes first.

    ReplyDelete
  47. @Justin: So you'll be back after the first quarter?

    ReplyDelete
  48. The footage of Mike Bellotti at UC Davis looked like it was taken on the Moon. #BlurryBlack&White

    ReplyDelete
  49. Sad to see Tommy Bowden reduced to doing studio work on the crap ACC Network coverage.

    ReplyDelete
  50. @Kris: Could be worse. Bowden could be calling the Cal-Pa vs. IN-PA game in the snow.

    ReplyDelete
  51. @Keith At least then he would have the cold as an excuse for being incoherent.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Mowins: "On the 30th anniversary of his passing, former Michigan radio legend Bob Ufer would've loved to have given one more call of 'Touchdown Meeeeeechigan.'"

Tim Brando wants his bit back.

    ReplyDelete
  53. #1 Wade from Arkansas is a knucklehead: He laid out a Vandy player on a punt, taunted him and got ejected, then argued with his own coaches all the way to the locker room.

    ReplyDelete
  54. @RJBO: I saw that http://gif.mocksession.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/RAZORBACK-DIRTY-PLAY.gif

He looked like Nyjer Morgan going back to the locker room.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Tim Brant: "I've never liked shotgun on 3rd and 1. Instead of needing 1, you end up needing 6."

    ReplyDelete
  56. Jay Cutler watching Aaron Rodgers' brother beat Arkansas.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I am thoroughly enjoying what could be Michigan's last win of the season. #TrademarkLateSeasonFade

    ReplyDelete
  58. I'm going to make lunch. I'll be back for the 12:30 games.

    ReplyDelete
  59. David Cutcliffe should really consider dressing up as Jesse Helms for Halloween.

    ReplyDelete
  60. The Purdue-Michigan game is so bad, they broke out the footage of the 5-0 Michigan victory from 1995. #Click

Oddly enough, there's a threat of hail & lightning moving into Ann Arbor.

    ReplyDelete
  61. SCOOP AND SCORE FOR ARKANSAS! 94 YARD FUMBLE RETURN!

    ReplyDelete
  62. 2-pointer is good! We are tied at 28 in Nashville!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Dammit Vandy! Hold onto the ball! Another fumble recovered to the Vandy 1 by the Hogs!

    ReplyDelete
  64. But Carroll looked like he fumbled it into the endzone! It looks to be Vandy ball on the touchback! WOW!

    ReplyDelete
  65. I think more people showed up at my college graduation party than are in the stands at Byrd Stadium this afternoon.

    ReplyDelete
  66. ESPN3 feed of that game: "We are experiencing weather related issues. Please stand by...."

    ReplyDelete
  67. @RJBO That'll be more interesting than the actual game.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Matt Daniels with his 3rd INT today for the Dookies.

    ReplyDelete
  69. aTm settles for a FG. Mizzou and Texas A&M tied 31-31; 4:10 left.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Keith Jones: "Both teams have gone with the 'one if by land, two ain't gonna do it approach.'"

    ReplyDelete
  71. Scratch that, the instant replay confirms that it was an incomplete pass.

    ReplyDelete
  72. You're not Oregon, Maryland, so quit trying. http://30fps.mocksession.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/2011-October-29-15-18-45.jpg

    ReplyDelete
  73. Hocker's FG gives the Hogs the lead back, 31-28 Arkansas. 6:53 left.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Mizzou has to go for it on 4th and 1.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Mizzou gets the first down but a flag.

    ReplyDelete
  76. That 4th down play had all kinds of fail potential, but the holding call will stick.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Vandy forced to punt after Rodgers can't scramble for the 3rd and 3.

    ReplyDelete
  78. The field looks great in Happy Valley; not so much in Piscataway.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Lisa Salters looks pissed she has to be on the field in Happy Valley.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Not even the snow could keep Eric LeGrand from leading the Scarlet Knights out onto the field. What a great moment.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Truck overturned on an interstate here that spilled 43,000 lbs of spaghetti sauce.

    ReplyDelete
  82. aTm will ice the Mizzou kicker before a possible GW FG.

    ReplyDelete
  83. That FG had absolutely no shot. OT in College Station.

    ReplyDelete
  84. All sorts of audio problems with the ESPN3 feed of WVU-Rutgers. Althought, that might be a good thing with Mark Neely & Ray Bentley on the call.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Aspeaking of things that probably should have crashed on an icy road... the Maryland team bus.

    #noshows

    ReplyDelete
  86. Dominique Whaley being carted off the field early for Oklahoma.

    ReplyDelete
  87. OH VANDY! MISSED A 28 YARD FG WITH 12 SECONDS LEFT

    ReplyDelete
  88. Mizzou leads 38-31 after scoring a TD on their 1st OT possession.

The WVU-Rutgers game reminds me of the aTm-Mississippi State Independence Bowl played in the snow.

    ReplyDelete
  89. 4th and 5 for aTm to keep overtime going....

    ReplyDelete
  90. @RJBO: You can watch that entire Independence Bowl on YouTube. #IHave

    ReplyDelete

  93. BC leads 21-3.

    #isitbasketballseasonyet?

    ##theyrenotverygoodeither

    ReplyDelete
  94. I think it is, Keith. I only wanted to watch a few minutes of it.

It's gonna be a real horror show in Piscataway, especially when someone has to kick into the wind.

    ReplyDelete
  95. San San Te nails a 40 yard FG for Rutgers. He had the wind at his back.

    ReplyDelete
  96. 14-0 Sooners early in the 1st. I never thought I'd be watching more of WVU-Rutgers than that game. #SnowGames

    ReplyDelete
  97. Touchdown Gators! Brantley to Reed on 4th and 19!

Tavon Austin a 52 yard run in the snow for the Mountaineers!

    ReplyDelete
  98. Snow game also going on at West Point, with the classic shoveled out lines every 5 yards.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Not surprising. Penn State vs Illinois is scoreless.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Easy touchdown for Oklahoma State, one play after Baylor fumbled the kickoff. 14-0 Cowboys.

    ReplyDelete
  101. ESPN superimposed yardmarkers and lines over the snow on the WVU-Rutgers game.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Ray Bentley: "I can't tell by the number, but I know it's an offensive lineman (down for West Virginia)." West Virginia is on defense.

    ReplyDelete
  103. I'm considering burning my diploma Friedgen style.

    ReplyDelete
  104. The KState offense has finally woke up.

    ReplyDelete
  105. I would love to see an LSU-Oklahoma State MNC game. Not just for the Le-sh Miles subplots; Cowboys have multiples weapons on offense.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Jenn Hildreth in the Captain Obvious department: "They brought twice as many balls to this game. They've been trying to dry the balls off. It's really wet out here."

    ReplyDelete
  107. Tavon Austin! 80 yard touchdown run for West Virginia!

*Earlier, Shawne Alston had the 52 yard run, not Austin.

    ReplyDelete
  108. You know the B1G is bad when this Penn State leads one of the divisions.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Touchdown Rutgers! Gary Nova to Mark Harrison for 45 yards!

    ReplyDelete
  110. Keith, the B1G is full of question mark teams. I don't think any of them are any good.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Boomer Derp and now KState is at OU's 15 yard line.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Damn, not only is Illinois-Penn State scoreless in the 2nd, so is Iowa-Minnesota. #BrutalB1G

    ReplyDelete
  113. #7 Oregon leads Wazzu, 15-10 at the half after the Ducks missed a FG.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Bob Wischusen after a Rutgers update: "Just talked to my wife. She's thrilled to be home with 5 kids and a snowstorm going (in North Jersey)."

    ReplyDelete
  115. What a catch by Jazz Reynolds! That had INT all over it.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Penn State fans booing the home team. I guess they're not enjoying the snow.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Another Jaz Reynolds catch for a TD, but Hunnicutt's XP is blocked.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Carter Blackburn is a Joe Buck in training...

    ReplyDelete
  119. I have no interest in The World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party, especially since I foolishly thought Georgia could win.

    ReplyDelete
  120. @RJBO Dave Witovek no longer refs in the B1G?

    ReplyDelete
  121. I think he still does. The boob who nearly blew the Hail Mary call last week happens to be in Happy Valley.

Lousy Nittany Lions fans and their snowballs.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Penn State student section throwing snowballs onto the field.

    ReplyDelete
  123. What a clusterfuck in Happy Valley

    ReplyDelete
  124. Rutgers 24, West Virginia 21. And they're playing in worse conditions than in Happy Valley. #B1G

Meanwhile, K-State misses a chip shot FG.

    ReplyDelete
  125. Penn State's dedication to unwatchable football and basketball is admirable.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Rich Waltz: "Under Armour is going to have design a uniform that sheds mud."

    #Keithwouldstillbitchaboutit

    ReplyDelete
  127. I won't bitch about it if it's not ugly or a ripoff of Oregon.

    ReplyDelete
  128. The Minnesota band is really bad. Off-key and out of sync.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Nice balance from Ryan Broyles to stay in and score an OU TD.

    ReplyDelete
  130. This BC/Maryland game has had some of the funniest missed FG's.

    ReplyDelete
  131. 3.5 hour D2 football game. We blew an 11-point lead; lost 24-21. I am numb.

    ReplyDelete
  132. @Justin: If I was you, I wouldn't watch the Penn State game.

    ReplyDelete
  133. I still have no feeling in my toes. I don't even know if I still have toes.

    /i am a dumbass

    ReplyDelete
  134. Georgia and Florida now tied at 17 after another TD pass on 4th down.

    ReplyDelete
  135. And after all that Penn State needs to settle for a field goal. Hahahahah. Of course.

    ReplyDelete
  136. If I put up a live blog for the soccer game tonight at 10 ET (7 PT), is anyone going to join?

    ReplyDelete
  137. Good news! I am beginning to feel my toes again!

    ReplyDelete
  138. Derek Moye may be Penn State's best player on offense today. And he has a broken foot.

/they can still win this game
    //1st place in Leaders division
    ///So B1G'd

    ReplyDelete
  139. PI on Illinois! Penn State has another chance!

    ReplyDelete
  140. Illinois wants to lose this game. PI on the Illini in the end zone.

    Word Verification: madho

    ReplyDelete
  141. I bet that's a Disney animatronic version of Paterno that's sitting in the press box.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  143. Way to save Illinois 40 seconds, PSU.

    ReplyDelete
  144. Brock Huard: "Pretty ugly for 57-58 minutes." #TimTebow'd

    ReplyDelete
  145. Scheelhaase with a semi-competent drive towards FG range.

    ReplyDelete
  146. Illinois is driving with 1 timeout left. 19 seconds left.

    ReplyDelete
  147. Timeout Illinois with :05 left. All on Derek Dimke.

    ReplyDelete
  148. Illinois attempting a game-winning field goal. If only this game was on the B1G Network!

    ReplyDelete
  149. IRON UNKIND TO DIMKE! PENN STATE WIN!!!!!!!!!

A B1G THRILLER IN THE HAPPY VALLEY SNOW!

    ReplyDelete
  150. 58-17 Sooners. To think, K-State had a lead in that game.....

    ReplyDelete
  151. Penn State must have a lucky horseshoe up their asses.

    ReplyDelete
  152. JJ Stokes is calling the UCLA-Cal game. I haven't seen him since Bill Romonawski spit in his face.

    ReplyDelete
  153. Both Florida & Georgia burned timeouts so that the Gators could try to draw off the Dawgs before taking a penalty. Dumb.

    ReplyDelete
  154. Night in Jacksonville looks terrifying.

    ReplyDelete
  155. Gators with some incredible field position after the brutal Dawgs punt.

    ReplyDelete
  156. Gary Nova has the ball slip out of his hand. WVU recovers. 34-31 Mountaineers under 6:00 to go. That game turned out to be great in the snow...

    ReplyDelete
  157. Does Jesse Palmer have any eligibility left? Yikes, Brantley.

    ReplyDelete
  158. And that game in Jersey is over.

    ReplyDelete
  159. Is FireWillMuschamp.com available?

    ReplyDelete
  160. So might the one in Jacksonville. John Brantley = Crystal Chandelier 2.0

    ReplyDelete
  161. @TimBrando: "Georgia's kicking game is as pathetic as I've ever seen in an SEC game."

    ReplyDelete
  162. Florida with -19 yards rushing. 6 sacks or not, that's still sickly.

    ReplyDelete
  163. After Rece Davis drops a "WOOO PIG SOOIE" after the 94 yard fumble return TD highlight:

Lou Holtz: "No more 5-Hour Pills for you."

    ReplyDelete
  164. Danielson: "Three groups are cheering for Georgia: Georgia fans, Boise State fans, and Tim Brando. He wants a 'Fly In The Ointment.'"

    ReplyDelete
  165. Schiano totally has the Kiffykins Derp face going on right now.

    ReplyDelete
  166. Jerry Rice Jr. is playing for FUCLA. #Iwouldnotwantthatname

    ReplyDelete
