College Football Open Thread: Week 1

It's finally here! The first Saturday of the college football season. Or as I like to call it, Christmas morning. After a long offseason we can finally watch teams play it out on the field. I can barely hold my excitement. So leave your comments on whatever game you're watching here, enjoy the games, and don't troll.

Must List and Announcing schedule

129 comments:

  1. Penn State return the opening kick for a touchdown!

    ReplyDelete
  2. I'm the only person that cares about this, but I think the refs look ridiculous wearing the black pants.

    ReplyDelete
  3. @Keith How did your brother's day go yesterday?

    ReplyDelete
  4. Didn't get to meet Lincecum because he was preparing for today's start, but we did get to meet Torres and Bumgarner. Pictures are uploading right now. I'll tweet them when they're ready.

    ReplyDelete
  5. O$U scores against 1 Win Akron.

"Best Terrell Pryor impression, who needs Pryor" Spielman

    ReplyDelete
  7. Auburn is going to be bad this year. Utah State has already scored on them.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Kerwin Williams with the TD run for Utah State. And the ridiculous haircut to boot.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Applebees has a commercial with Boomer & the former Bachelor. You know football season is here when...

    ReplyDelete
  10. Utah State is leading Auburn 7-0 after Wesley Snipes from Demolition Man scored a TD.

    ReplyDelete
  11. 14-0 PSU over the Sycamores of Indiana State.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Emory Blake 56 yard TD catch & run for Auburn

    ReplyDelete
  13. I think Meyer is afraid of Spielman. Or he's a very soft speaker. Either one.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Beth Mowins looking good this afternoon...

    ReplyDelete
  15. Yep O$U just turned it over inside the red zone, Akron recovers the fumble. Remember, Akron had 1 W last year.

    ReplyDelete
  16. ISU is getting nothing accomplished on offense today. It's the 1st quarter and it's already ugly in Happy Valley.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Wow... Utah State going for it on 4th & Goal... KEETON keeps it!! TD Utah State!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Utah State converted on 3rd & 20 and 4th & Goal from the 4... 14-7 Aggies

    ReplyDelete
  19. Alabama is going National Guard on Kent State.

    /Too Soon?

    ReplyDelete
  20. McGloin in the game now. Ugh. I prefer Bolden.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Zordich runs it in for another Penn State touchdown. 21-0 over Insiana State. Matt Devlin and Glen Mason are calling the game for the B1G Network.

    ReplyDelete
  22. USU is going to score again on Auburn.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Eagles are cutting Chad Hall. That likely means Sinorice Moss (Santana's little brother) makes the roster as a 6th WR, special teamer.

    ReplyDelete
  24. As soon as I type that, Aaron Wilson of FoxSports tweets that the Eagles have released Sinorice Moss. I guess Johnnie Lee Higgins makes the team as that 6th WR.

    ReplyDelete
  25. @Kris: I enjoyed your post yesterday. Thanks for doing it.

@Justin: When did the Eagles start taking in Raiders rejects?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Va Tech is like the opposite of Michigan against App State.

    /Somewhere RJBO cries

    ReplyDelete

@Keith Thank You. I really didn't want to rehash the Miami/O$U/Auburn situations.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Matt McGloin is the 2nd coming of Brett Favre. I fear for humanity.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Halftime at Happy Valley.

Penn State 28, Indiana State 0

    ReplyDelete
  31. Napa didn't retire that stupid Kno-no-no-no- how commercial?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Glen Mason is hard for Matt McGloin. This is disturbing to listen to.

    ReplyDelete
  33. "B1G: Honoring Legends. Building Leaders."

Be lucky you are not watching these commercials.

Also, I love Rece Davis for finally given me a way to remember what teams are in the B1G Divisions. Schools that start with the letter "M," "N," and Iowa are Legends, and everyone else are Leaders. Thanks, Rece!

Now if only I could figure out a way to remember Atlantic and Coastal in the ACC.....

    ReplyDelete
  34. @Justin The ACC Divisions make no sense and there is no easy way to remember them.

    ReplyDelete
  35. @Justin & Kris: Thankfully the Pac-10 didn't go with hokey division names.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Marvin Lewis interview on the B1G. His son plays at ISU. Bleh.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Gene Chizik channeling his inner Andy Reid now.

    ReplyDelete
  38. The ACC could have gone North & South, but that would have been absurdly one sided to the South.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Utah State with the lead again. And Auburn has already burned two timeouts.

    ReplyDelete
  40. @ Kris: Instead the divisions are so that it is impossible to memorize them. Good planning on their part.

/Still has more reasonable names than "Legends" and "Leaders".

    ReplyDelete
  41. Should I start cooking lunch now in preparations for the noon games? Yes I should.

    ReplyDelete
  42. @Justin I particularly enjoy how Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech are in the "Coastal" Division.

    /no where near the coast'd

    ReplyDelete
  43. @Kris: That would be like the Pac-10 putting Utah and Colorado in the "Coastal" Division.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Utah State inside Auburn's 10 yard line. Here we go again.

    ReplyDelete
  45. @ Kris: They also are not anywhere near the Atlantic......

    ReplyDelete
  46. TOUCHDOWN UTAH STATE! Aggies back on top 31-28. 11:20 to go in the game.

    ReplyDelete
  47. After some discussion we have a Utah State touchdown!

    ReplyDelete
  49. If Stu Morrill were coaching, Utah State would find a way to lose this game.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Per Darren Rovell, Auburn is paying Utah State 950K for playing this game. Maybe they should have invested it with Cecil Newton instead.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I would love to see Utah State go for this 1st Down inside the 5.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Indiana State prevents the shutout.

    ReplyDelete
  53. They go for the fake FG! And it's completed!

    ReplyDelete
  54. This play is going to review. I think that is a good catch for Utah State.

    ReplyDelete
  55. TOUCHDOWN UTAH STATE! 3:38 TO GO IN AUBURN!

    ReplyDelete
  56. TOUCHDOWN UTAH STATE WITH 3:38 LEFT!

    ReplyDelete
  57. The Auburn fans are clearing out like Keith during a Giants game.

/What have you done for me lately?

    ReplyDelete
  58. Just like that, Auburn has a 1st and Goal.

    ReplyDelete
  59. App State has finally scored in Blacksburg. Va Tech's lead is down to 59-6.

    /RJBO weeps

    ReplyDelete
  60. Touchdown Auburn with 2:07 left! Those 3rd quarter timeouts are really coming back to bite Auburn in the backside now.

    ReplyDelete
  61. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  62. AUBURN RECOVERS THE ONSIDE KICK WITH 2:02 LEFT!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Touchdown Auburn! 30 seconds left.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Touchdown is under review. Going to be difficult to overturn this.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Surprising Utah State did not call timeout there.

    ReplyDelete
  66. They are going to have to add time to that clock. No way did it take Utah State 13 seconds to call timeout.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Utah State blew their load early.

Also Marcus Allen looks like a robot on the FSN Studio Show. I think he's plugged into the wall.

    ReplyDelete
  68. This has gotta be a series of crazy laterals, right?

    ReplyDelete
  69. Wow. Tough loss for Utah State to swallow.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  72. BOOK THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TICKETS, ND FANS!

    ReplyDelete
  73. How could I have forgotten to congratulate anOSU on their first win since 2009?

TD Western Michigan on their 1st series

    ReplyDelete
  74. tyhildenbrandt Ty Hildenbrandt
Through half a quarter, Don Criqui has now referred to South Florida as "Florida State" on the radio 4 times.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Soldier Field thinks the turf in South Bend sucks.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I can't wait for the Urban Meyer era in Notre Dame!

    ReplyDelete
  77. @Keith You're already counting down?

    ReplyDelete
  78. @Kris: No, but I'm sure ND fans are.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Sac State holding their own against Oregon State through the 2nd quarter.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Notre Dame can't get out of their own way.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I'm sure the Dayne Crist era at ND will be remembered as fondly as the Gary Godsey one.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Bruce Feldman already making an appearance on the CBS College halftime studio update.

    ReplyDelete
  83. I thought this Ole Miss-BYU game would be a good game. It's still early, but this game is hard on the eyes.

    ReplyDelete
  84. 14-3 SACRAMENTO STATE OVER OREGON STATE!

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  89. Houston-UCLA has been an interesting game.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Sac State up 21-6 on Oregon State in the 4th quarter. Please hold on Hornets.

    ReplyDelete
  91. I had to take a nap. Sorry. I had a real long day today.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Dick Stockton and Tim McCarver in the booth together in Boston. Yeah.

    ReplyDelete
  95. The BYU as an independent experiment is off to a winning start.

    ReplyDelete
  96. The uniforms in the BSU-Georgia game are horrible.

    ReplyDelete
  97. The Phillies and the Marlins had a 1 hour and 45 minute delay only to play in pouring rain anyway. This is going to be a disaster. Sun Life Stadium is a shitsack baseball stadium.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Charles Davis must be thinking, "this is so much better than doing NFL games with Dick Stockton."

    ReplyDelete
  99. The end of Notre Dame-South Florida is being moved to Versus.

    ReplyDelete
  103. The SEC has seen better days than today.

    ReplyDelete
  104. @ Keith: Yep. Or someone very much like him.

After posting comments about X-rated things he wants to do his sister and Roy Halladay, this troll pulled out the n-word and posted a picture of two naked guys doing it.

    ReplyDelete
  105. @Justin: Have you seen the Pac12 today? Both Oregon schools have looked like shit and USC needed a last minute INT to beat Minnesota.

    ReplyDelete
  106. @ Keith: But the SEC is the bestest football conference ever!

    /SEC fan'd
//But I guess they will live vicariously through LSU now
///This year could get real good

    ReplyDelete
  107. No complaining about Maryland's uniforms after watching Georgia's tonight.

    ReplyDelete
