The Oral History of the Mos Eisley Cantina, Part III

So far we've talked about how the Boz bought Mos Eisley Cantina and how the Colonel, Grandpa, Senior, and Junior found the bar. It's time to complete the oral history with how the motorcycle gang and the Bandit discovered Mos Eisley.

The Motorcycle gang consists of three middle-aged men named Ace, Johnny, and Red. I was always intimidated to talk with them, but much to my surprise I found out they're really cool guys. In fact they're like Travolta and Tim Allen in that horrible movie 'Wild Hogs'. Ace is actually a dentist. Johnny is a surgeon at Sutter Hospital in Roseville, and Red works for Triple A. They're high school buddies from Lincoln who drive their motorcycles and visit Mos Eisley to get away from their wives.

V. "Don't ever get married son."-Ace

Ace (Dentist): We sound like we hate our wives, but we really don't. We just like to get away from them every once in a while.

Johnny (Surgeon): Ace won't admit, but he hates his wife.

Red (Triple A employee): Can we get back on topic?

Ace: Yes we should. We started coming to Mos Eisley about six years ago when we decided to buy motorcycles. We needed to find a place to hang out for a couple of hours every once in a while and we liked the sight of this place when we drove by. We immediately liked the place because it looks like a dump from the outside. Once you go inside though you'll find there is a great charm to the place.

Johnny: I live in Loomis and would drive by Mos Eisley everyday. I told the other guys we should go in try the Cantina.

Red: I'm a picky drinker and it was too my delight that Boz served red wine along with sapphire martini's.

Ace: Yes we're ashamed to sit with a guy who drinks red wine in a bar.

Johnny: We also like the fact that we're left alone. We have high stress jobs and nothing makes me more angry than other patrons bothering you. It sounds like I'm a jerk, but I just want to talk with my friends and not be bothered by other people.

Red: No, we're jerks.
The Bandit is also a middle-aged man with a family looking to interact with the boys and the Cantina is his place. We call him the Bandit because he's a truck driver. The Bandit doesn't deliver illegal Coors like Burt Reynolds, but he work for UPS.

VI: "Everyone needs a little interaction."-The Bandit

The Bandit: I've worked for UPS for 23 years now. My two kids have already graduated from college and live out of state. My wife actually works at nights as the head nurse at Sutter hospital in the emergency room. So I know no one is home, so I go to the Cantina just to be around someone. My wife gets off work by 10 so I will usually go home by then.

Boz: The Bandit has been coming in here for about six years now. I believe that's when his last kid left the house.

The Bandit: My baby girl graduated from high school six years ago. She went to college at Cal Poly so I was pretty lonely at night. I just needed a place to interact with people. I had actually visited the Cantina before the Boz takeover for the occasional drink. After my kids left the house, I started to frequent the bar more and more. Everyone needs a little interaction.

Boz: As I said about Grandpa. As long as people buy drinks or food and don't bother the other patrons, I don't mind regulars. In fact, I like that we can be a place for people like the Bandit. I need some interaction myself.

The Bandit: I'm on the road all day long by myself. Then I go home and no one is there. I'm sorry but I need to talk to someone other than the radio. That's why I will usually talk to Boz or I will butt in on the Colonel and your's conversations about the Giants.

The Colonel: We honestly don't mind. (We don't)

The Bandit: So yeah the only reason why I keep coming back is because no one is at home at night. Also because there is a Giant flatscreen HD TV where I can watch the Giants.
