Foul Ball: The Pirates Are Above .500!

Pittsburgh 4, Los Angeles 1: For the first time in seven years, the Pittsburgh Pirates are a game over .500 in mid-May and are only two games out of first place in the NL Central. The Pirates won on Monday night behind three straight doubles in the eighth inning, the first by Neil Walker which drove in the winning run of the game. From there the Pirates bullpen shut down the Dodgers and picked up the victory.

Toronto 5, Detroit 10: Despite being blown out by the Tigers and losing three out of four games to them, the Blue Jays did hold a very nice auction during Monday's game. One of the items for bid was a meet and greet with former Blue Jays catcher Gregg Zaun. I would have made a bid on this item just to meet Zaun. Look at his website. Isn't' that someone you would want to meet?

Florida 4, Philadelphia 6: Let's look at the Marlins offensive ineptitude in this game. The Marlins grounded into four double plays, left seven men on base, and left three men on base in scoring position with two outs. That's some serious fail. And yet the Fish still scored four runs. Imagine if they knocked in those three runs now?

Texas 2, Oakland 7:  Trevor Cahill pitched in seven innings giving up five hits, one run, striking out seven, to improve his record to 6-0 on the season. Cahill's WHIP is 1.09 and ERA is 1.72. That ranks Cahill as one of the best pitchers in baseball, which isn't surprising. Josh Willingham homered and drove in five runs for the A's.

Milwaukee 4, San Diego 3: You just need to know two things about this game. Zach Greinke picked up his first win as a Brewer and Yuniesky Betancourt made one of the sweetest double plays you'll ever see. Seriously watch the video of Betancourt. That play even got Bob Uecker excited.

Colorado 2, New York 1: Leave it to the Mets to help the Rockies snap their losing streak. Can they do anything right?

Anaheim 0, Chicago 8: The struggling White Sox bats exploded for eight runs. Carlos Quentin homered and drove in five runs to go along with home runs by Gordon Beckham and Alexei Ramirez. Edwin Jackson picked up the victory by scattering five hits but allowing no runs and striking out five batters.

Boston 2, Minnesota 1, 11 Innings: Pinch runner Jose Iglesias ran as fast as he could from first base to score the game-winning run for the Red Sox. Iglesias scored on a game-winning double by Carl Crawford in the bottom of the eleventh by avoiding the tag at the plate.

Houston 1, Cincinnati 6: Not only did Reds pitcher Travis Wood strike out six batters in 6 2/3 innings, but he also hit a three-run home run. Wood's battery mate Ramon Hernandez added a two-run home run. The Reds now sit a game behind the Cardinals in the NL Central and they finally have their starting rotation in tact.

Video of the Day: Full disclosure. I'm only posting this video to make RJBO's head explode.
