New York 5, Oakland 0: Trevor Cahill and Bartolo Colon pitched against each other on Monday. Guess who pitched the complete game shutout? If you guess Colon, you win. Colon pitched the complete game shutout giving up only four hits on the afternoon and striking out six. In the day and age we live in, how could you not be suspicious of this guy throwing a complete game shutout? Oh that right's, he played against the Oakland A's. Never mind then.
Detroit 6, Minnesota 5: It seems like everyday when I read the MLB recaps/boxscores of the previous day's game, I see that Minnesota has blown another lead. On Monday the Twins blew another lead, but in a controversial style. Alex Avila hit a double that was ruled fan interference and allowed Detroit to score the game-winning run. Oh yeah, Tigers outfielder Don Kelly made a nice catch to end the game. Yes, the Twins are snake bitten this year.
Kansas City 8, Anaheim 10: The Angels and Royals decided to play home run derby on Monday. Between both teams, a combined six home runs were hit during the afternoon including two by Torii Hunter. Hunter's second home run of the day happened in the ninth inning and would be the game-winning home run.
Chicago 7, Houston 12: I guess the Cubs decided on Monday that they would give up almost as many home runs (4) as runs they would score in the game (7). Jeff Keppinger was the big contributor for the Astros hitting a home run and driving in four runs.
Seattle 4, Baltimore 3: I know the Orioles are playing 3,000 miles away from home. But if they can't beat the dregs of the AL West like Seattle or Oakland, then they should consider what their purpose on this Earth is. I'll give the Orioles a break this time, they were Fister'd.
Tampa Bay 5, Texas 11: The Rangers and Rays also decided to play home run derby on Monday. A total of six home runs were hit in the game, four by the Rangers and two by the Rays. Mike Napoli hit two home runs and drove in five RBIs. Endy Chavez and Mitch Moreland also hit home runs in the game for the Rangers.
Toronto 11, Cleveland 1: Jo-Jo Reyes went so long without a victory that after today's victory he was doused with Gatorade by his teammates. Yes after 29 starts, Reyes finally picked up a victory. Reyes in fact dominated the Indians throwing the complete game giving up eight hits but only one run. Four different Blue Jays drove in runs on the afternoon.
New York 7, Pittsburgh 3: I have no idea who
St. Louis 3, San Francisco 7: The Giants have won two games on this current road trip and in both games a Giants hitter hit a grand slam. Andres Torres hit the grand slam on Monday in the fourth inning after starting pitcher Madison Bumgarner worked a walk to load the bases. Despite one inning there were it looked like he lost composure, Bumgarner pitched well in seven innings to pick up the victory.
