One of the scariest hits in a hockey game I've ever seen occurred last night. Boston's Zdeno Chara rode Montreal's Max Pacioretty into the glass between the benches leaving Pacioretty unconscious and having to leave the ice on a stretcher.
Chara was given a 5-minute major for interference and a game misconduct. Scary, scary stuff. The question will be, what will the NHL do with Chara? The NHL has already proven to be selective when punishing players for reckless hits that injure players. Will the NHL suspend Chara at all for this hit because he plays for one of the original six? Will the NHL suspend Chara a couple of games?
Everyone complains about the selective punishment in the NFL, but the NHL has a far worst problem with it. It's going to be interesting to see what the NHL does in this situation.
