Saturday Open Thread
I don't know why, but the Saturday event during the NBA All-Star weekend still fires me up. I have no idea why. We've seen every dunk imaginable at this point. We've all see the 3-point contest a million times that it really doesn't mean that much anymore, but still I'm fired up to watch those events. So use this thread to talk about the Slam Dunk contest, NBA Saturday All-Star weekend, college basketball, or whatever sporting event that interests you.

St. John's is a tough team at MSG.
ReplyDeleteI wake up at 7:30 AM, watch Chelsea lose in penalties to Everton in the FA Cup, take a nap, oversleep, wake up an hour and a half after I intended to, only to find Villanova losing to DePaul?!?!?!?!?
ReplyDelete/FML
Wow. I just saw a picture of Bartolo Colon at Spring Training. He's always been big, but he's really let himself go.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like Villanova have finally found a way to get baskets from Corey Fisher, whereas DePaul is yet to get help for Melvin.
ReplyDeleteAlso, STFU Bob Wenzel
CBS using a fancy new studio for their basketball coverage.
ReplyDeleteIf this stretch of struggling against Providence, Rutgers, Seton Hall, and DePaul proves something, it's that Villanova really needs a healthy Corey Stokes to be successful.
ReplyDeleteTerrible officiating.
ReplyDeleteCOREY FISHER! GAME TYING 3 WITH 6 SECONDS LEFT! DEPAUL CAN'T GET A WINNER!
ReplyDeleteVillanova are going to overtime! Against DePaul?
/Giddy
If all else fails for Villanova, I have faith Oliver Purnell will single handedly find a way to lose this game for DePaul
ReplyDeleteCorey Fisher is going to beat DePaul by himself if that is what it takes. Geez he has been great this game.
ReplyDeleteWhy is Jay Wright taking him out now
And St. John's just beat Pitt on a last minute lay-up.
ReplyDeleteDePaul do nothing but chuck 3's.
ReplyDeleteVillanova looks like they will escape Chicago with the win.
ReplyDeleteSlightly embarrassing that they needed overtime to beat the worst team in the Big East, but a win is a win at this point for Villanova.
Game over. Villanova win 77-75 in overtime.
ReplyDeleteWest Virginia is all over Notre Dame right now
ReplyDeleteI'm watching this NASCAR race Danica Patrick is involved in and the announcers keep saying the other drivers are "up her rear".
ReplyDelete/Out of context
I'm always happy when Notre Dame loses.
ReplyDeleteI don't think anyone wants to be #1.
ReplyDeleteKris and I are both worried Mike Patrick could end up pulling an Eric Snow with this BC-UNC snoozer.
ReplyDeleteExpanding for football has killed the ACC basketball that I grew up loving.
ReplyDelete/wishes I had a blog to write about this
Rutgers and Syracuse going to overtime in the Carrier Dome. The game is available on ESPN3.com, or a local affiliate if you are in the Big East market.
ReplyDeleteYou don't want to turn this game for the basketball, turn it on for the analyst, Jack Armstrong. The guy sounds a bit like Dickie V and speaks only in cliches.
ReplyDeleteGeorge Mason might be the best basketball team in DC.
ReplyDeleteVery good game between Washington and Arizona on ESPN
ReplyDelete"He just got a man dunk over another man." - Brad Nessler
ReplyDelete"It's almost like he found by before the game the rim stole his girlfriend: I don't like you very much!" - Jimmy Dykes
ReplyDeleteFor some reason, Jimmy Dykes creeps me out.
ReplyDelete"Second mouse got the cheese. First mouse didn't, second mouse does."--Jimmy Dykes
ReplyDeleteThat UNI interlude dance is something to see.
ReplyDelete"HOLY!" - Georgetown-USF PbP announcer
ReplyDeleteYes, I am actually watching Georgetown-South Florida on ESPN3 right now.
ReplyDelete/I am a Big East junkie
Wow, South Florida. Just wow.
ReplyDeleteAnd that is why they are in 15th place in the Big East.
George Mason and Northern Iowa is looking like it is coming down to the wire.
ReplyDeleteCall me crazy, but I am planning on live blogging every game of the Big East Tournament this year, including the first round, something I have never done before. It is crazy, but teams like South Florida, Rutgers, and DePaul are capable of hanging in there until losing it in the end in very comical fashion.
ReplyDeleteOf course, I do have a life and may miss some parts of some games, but still, it will be fun. It is my Spring Break week and there will not be much else to do.
Providence just had an epic fail.
ReplyDeleteYep, I am totally live blogging this entire tournament. The first two days may be more entertaining than the last three!
Of course, Providence's epic fail only sent them to overtime instead of giving the Friars the win. But still, they fell behind by 14 before you could blink, then came back to force OT, only to fall behind by 6 in OT now.
ReplyDeleteRutgers approves of Northern Iowa's timekeeper
ReplyDeleteThis Sens-Leafs game is so bad it's good. #BattleOfOnterrible
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother has a better beard than Paul Pierce.
ReplyDeleteOnly Montana-Long Beach State is on now.
