That's One Way to Raise Attendance

The Atlanta Thrashers of the NHL are a cute story this year in the world of hockey. Through a trade with the Chicago Blackhawks they've improved their team and now they sit at sixth in the Eastern Conference and third in the Southeast. Like a typical Atlanta based team though, the Thrashers are one of the worst drawing teams in their respective league. So what's one way to drum up attendance? Stage a wedding on the ice between periods with the mascot escorting the bride onto the ice.

There's only video to this story and not any facts. I have no idea how much it costs someone to get married on Thrashers ice, but I do think it's a cool idea. More professional teams should use minor league style of gimmick promotions, especially if they have attendance issues.
