Saturday Open Thread
Justin demanded this thread! He wants to comment on the division II football championship. There's also college basketball games. Parts of the country will get either South Carolina at Ohio State or Stanford at Butler while the entire country will get Texas at North Carolina on CBS. ESPN will also have a full slate of games. There of course is NBA and NHL action, so whatever game your watching, enjoy. Leave comments and don't be a troll.

Who schedules championship games for 11 AM on the East coast?
ReplyDeleteRob Stone?
ReplyDelete"They're up three-love with 11:17 left in the 1st." - Rob Stone
ReplyDeleteBleh.
Well this has been an interesting game thus far....
ReplyDeleteEntertaining 1st half. 14-10 Delta State at the break.
ReplyDeleteI forgot that there are bowl games on today.
ReplyDeletebring back Jason Knapp & AGB!
ReplyDeleteWell that was one of the worst punts I have ever seen.
ReplyDeleteOof. 11 yard punt gives Minn-Duluth excellent field position.
ReplyDelete@ Keith: There is snow forecast in Boise today for the Humanitarian Bowl.
ReplyDeleteDouble oof. Duluth just pulled a Deadskins on that FG attempt. Waste of good field position there.
ReplyDelete@Justin: That doesn't surprise me. It's cold, wet, and raining on the entire West Coast.
ReplyDelete4th and 2 fails and Duluth gets the ball back!
ReplyDeletewhy the heck didn't Delta take the 3?
ReplyDelete"We go back to Ron Roberts and his decisions." - Rob Stone
ReplyDelete"LeBron James's decision?" - David Pollack
"No, no, these are less hyped decisions." - Rob Sonte
@ Kris: I have no idea. There is a stark drop off in kickers at the Division II level, as you may have noticed, so that may play a part, but that was a chip shot FG to make it a 7-point game.
ReplyDeleteGeez, how many muffs are there going to be this game?
Does Minnesota-Duluth have a Christmas tree on their helmet?
ReplyDeleteillegal forward pass is going to wipe out the long TD pass
ReplyDeleteJust because Temple was snubbed of a bowl game, I am rooting for the MAC to win all their bowl games. I am aware none of them have stiff competition, still, it will be nice for the MAC to kind of make a combined statement by winning out after an 8-4 team that beat a BCS team by two touchdowns got snubbed
ReplyDelete"That one a legit pass and catch." - Rob Stone
ReplyDeleteYou're so cool, Stoner.

@Justin 4th & 1 at the 26, and I would understand going for it, but even a D-2 kicker should be able to make a 24 yard FG
ReplyDeleteThat was a risky call on 4th down, but Duluth converts. End of 3 now, still 14-10 Delta State.
ReplyDeleteThis championship game with Delta State is much closer than the one in 2000 when they beat my beloved Bloomsburg.
ReplyDelete/Don't research the score.
//Please.
@Justin at least Bloomsburg scored 34 that afternoon
ReplyDeleteVoss! what a drive from Duluth!
ReplyDeletei'm surprised how well USC is playing against Kansas
ReplyDeleteDelta State says they have the ball!
ReplyDeleteAnd they do have it! Wow!
"You can't sit there for a meal. You can't eat breakfast and hit the ball out." - David Pollack
ReplyDeletemy heart dies a little every time Josh Selby makes a big shot...
ReplyDeleteIs Delta State crazy?!?!?!?
ReplyDeleteFalse start! Now you have to kick it.
USC up 2, but Kansas has the ball with 38.7 left.
ReplyDeleteDelta State going for it on 4th and goal... STUFFED AND A FALSE START! Now they have to kick it to tie.
ReplyDeleteAnd now a blocked kick and a delay of game. Oof.
Tie game in Florence!
ReplyDeleteI'll talk with you guys later.
ReplyDeleteOH! Duluth nearly ran the ensuing kickoff back for 6! That might've given them the national title!
ReplyDeleteAnd, a challenge.
Brilliant challenge.
ReplyDeleteFontan stepped out of bounds for a huge turnover
ReplyDeleteAnd, the return man is ruled down at the 11, negating the big run-back. Huge call there.
ReplyDeleteKansas survives
ReplyDeleteAnd, the New Mexico Bowl is underway!
ReplyDeleteBob Wischusen: "Does it get any better than college football in bowl season?"
ReplyDelete/urge to kill rising
Duluth opts to kick on 4th and inches.
ReplyDeletePICKED!!!
ReplyDeleteTerrible throw by Davis may have just buried his team.
ReplyDeletethat was a perfectly timed screen pass
ReplyDeleteHere we go. 32 yard FG to give Duluth the D-II title.
ReplyDeleteGOOD!!! MINNESOTA-DULUTH HAS WON THE DIVISION II CHAMPIONSHIP!!!
ReplyDeleteMINNESOTA-DULUTH WINS IT!
ReplyDeletethat kick was just barely good...
ReplyDeleteMN-Duluth are the champions of D-2!
Going Christmas shopping now. Talk to you all later.
ReplyDelete6th straight year of Wisconsin-Whitewater vs Mount Union in the D-III championship game.
ReplyDeletethis has been a fun 1st half between Mt. Union & WW
ReplyDeleteboth teams overcame double digit deficits in the 1st half
ReplyDeleteof course Verne gets a great game right out of the box
ReplyDelete
