Foul Ball: Giants Baseball: Torture, Rays-Rangers Are Going Five, & Phillies Sweep

Atlanta 2 San Francisco 3 SF takes 2-1 series lead: The Giants won this game by sheer attrition and Brooks Conrad. The Giants were down to their last strike when Freddy Sanchez reached base on a single. Aubrey Huff would single in Sanchez to tie the game and then Brooks Conrad happened. Brooks Conrad had already committed two errors in the game and he would make his third in the worst possible time. Buster Posey hit the ball to 2nd, should have been a routine play, and the play simply went through Conrad's legs the Giants took the lead. Brian Wilson came into the game, got three outs, and put the Braves on the verge of elimination. The Giants should have never had to make a comeback in this game. Sergio Romo once again disappointed out of the bullpen, giving up a two-run home run to pinch hitter Eric Hinske, blowing the lead and letting Jonathon Sanchez walk away with no victory after a beautiful performance. Sanchez pitched 7 1/3 shutout innings giving up two hits, one walk, and striking out eleven. Pretty impressive for his first career postseason start. The Giants will give the ball to rookie Madison Bumgarner tonight to end this series.

Brooks Conrad Quote: I would be lying if I didn't say I felt sorry for Brooks Conrad. Quote courtesy of the AP“It was completely embarrassing,” said Conrad, who has made eight errors in the last seven games going back to the regular season. “Once again, I feel like I let everyone down. I wish I could just dig a hole and sleep in it.”

Texas 2 Tampa Bay 5 Series Tied at 2-2: The Rays staved off elimination again and were able to take the series back to St. Petersburg for a Game five. Evan Longoria hit a two-run home run, two doubles, and scored two runs. Wade Davis and the Rays bullpen kept the Rangers bats at bay giving up only two runs and eight hits. Game five between these two teams will be played on Tuesday night with the winner facing New York in the ALCS.

Cincinnati 0 Philadelphia 2: The Phillies only needed two runs to defeat the Cincinnati Reds and sweep them out of the playoffs. Pert Plus pitched a complete game giving up no runs, five hits, no walks, and striking out nine. The Phillies only runs came off a Orlando Cabrera error and a Chase Utley. Good enough to send them to their third straight NLCS.

  1. My emotions haven't swung back-and-forth like that during a Giants game, since Game(Redacted).

  2. The win probability chart for yesterday's Giants-Braves game is the lulz.
