Foul Ball: The Rays Almost No-Hit Again

Toronto 1 Tampa Bay 0: Tampa Bay came *this* close to being no-hit again, there third time this season being no-hit a MLB record. Evan Longoria though saved the Devil Rays from bad history by recording a hit with two-outs in the top of the ninth inning. Brandon Morrow of the Blue Jays though ended up with a one-hit complete game shutout. Vernon Wells drove in the only run of the game in the first inning.

Philadelphia 6 New York 5: Roy Halladay didn't have his best stuff on Sunday, but that was more than enough to beat the Mets. Halladay went seven innings giving up nine hits and five runs, but he still picked up the victory. Jayson Werth and Raul Ibanez both homered for the Phillies with Ibanez driving in three runs.

Oakland 3 Texas 2: Trevor Cahill continues to own the Texas Rangers. With Sunday's win over the Rangers, Cahill has now beaten Texas five straight times. Cahill went eight inning giving up six hits and two runs. Kurt Suzuki broke a 2-2 tie in the seventh inning with a sacrifice fly. Coco Crisp knocked in a run and stole a bag for the A's while also stealing an extra base hit from Bengie Molina in the fourth inning.

Baltimore 4 Chicago 3: The Orioles have won five game out of six with their new manager Buck Showalter. Just think if Showalter managed the Orioles all season? Can you say third in the AL East? Felix Pie homered in the game for Baltimore and three other Orioles drove in runs during the game. Jeremy Guthrie went eight inning for the Orioles giving up only six hits and one run to pick up the victory.

St. Louis 0 Florida 0: This game was postponed after the top of the 1st inning.

Detroit 9 Los Angeles of Anaheim 4: How's this for irony? The Tigers sent Will Rhymes back to Triple-A before the game, but not before he had three hits and two RBIs in the Tigers victory over Anaheim. “We look like fools,” said Tigers manager Jim Leyland after the game. No wonder this team slid down the standings, they don't know which players to keep on their roster.

Chicago 4 Cincinnati 11: The Reds pounded the Cubs all weekend long and stay on top of the NL Central standings over St. Louis by two games. I think the Reds are just too good on offense this year for the Cardinals to pass them in the standings. The NL Wild Card is going to be a great race this year between the Cardinals, Giants, and Phillies.

Create a Caption: Maybe Coco Crisp could find the bag if he pulled his helmet up.

Video of the Day: Check out this corny Texas Rangers song made by their fans.

  1. I'll be honest. I didn't watch the Giants yesterday so I didn't talk about them today.

  2. Keith, I saw the last few innings of that game on TBS, or enough of the game for Dick Stockton to update the availability of "Eric" Renteria off the bench.

Reds & Cards will be a fascinating race for the NL Central, not even taking into account if Aroldis Chapman gives Cincy something down the stretch.

  3. @RJBO: I can never be grateful enough that the TBS broadcast was blacked out for me.
