Denzel Washington is a great actor. He's portrayed Malcom X and Hurricane Carter. Training Day, Crimson Tide, and Inside Man are some of my favorite movies. Washington has portrayed every type of character imaginable. Portraying Kurt Warner though would definitely be Washington's hardest character.
In a interview with Paul Bolvin of the Arizona Republic, Warner admitted he's not going down the path of Brett Favre. Warner, who is set to broadcast games with Fox this season, also said he's been offered reality shows that would follow his family. Warner's herd of kids would make Jon & Kate look infertile. The money quote of the interview though was Warner talking about his talks with movie producers interested in making a movie about his life. Warner said his wife Brenda wants Denzel Washington to portray him.
"It would probably challenge Denzel in ways he's never been challenged before," Warner said.
You think? Denzel has portrayed many characters, but I doubt he could ever portray a white grocery-bagging turned NFL MVP-Super Bowl winning quarterback. I would love Denzel Washington to portray me in a movie, but it ain't happening.
My question from this, who would portray Brenda? Does William Petersen portray the St. Louis Brenda then somehow morph into Halle Berry to portray the Arizona Brenda? Interesting when you think about it.
One thing is for sure, Denzel Washington won't be portraying Kurt Warner in a film and Spike Lee thinks Brenda Warner is a racist.
