Foul Ball: Honoring Harwell, Stealing Home & LOL Mets

Detroit 5 NY Yankees 4: Former Yankees Johnny Damon and Austin Jackson drove in runs for the Tigers to beat the Yankees. Damon homered against his former teammates as Detroit spot starter Brad Thomas went three innings giving up three hits, two runs, while throwing 68 pitches before being pulled because of an pitch count.

Chicago Cubs 2 Florida 4: The Cubs continue to lose, their third straight loss to go along with six loses in ten games. The Marlins score three runs in the seventh inning highlighted by Ronny Paulino's two-run home run and Cody Ross' steal of home. Yes, Cody Ross stole home on the Cubs. And to think, Ted Lilly took a no-hitter into the sixth inning.

Boston 7 Toronto 6: Blue Jays pitcher Brendon Morrow allowed five walks and four runs in the second inning in a loss to the Red Sox. Jose Bautista's two-run home run cut Boston's lead to 7-6 in the seventh inning, three Boston relievers held off the Blue Jays to pick up the victory. With the Blue Jays 4.5 games behind 1st, Jays fans are asking whether Cito Gasten will garner Manager of the Year votes?

Pittsburgh 2 Cincinnati 1: When Bronson Arroyo isn't playing guitar, he's dominated the Pittsburgh Pirates. Arroyo shut down the Pirates in seven innings allowing one run, five hits, and striking out two batters. Laynce Nix and Scott Rolen drove in both runs for the Reds.

NY Mets 2 Washington 3: The Natinals beat the LOL Mets behind Luis Atilano's strong performance. Adam Kennedy and Ryan Zimmerman hit back-to-back home runs of off Mets starting pitcher John Maine in the second inning. The Mets as a team stuck out 11 times, left 11 men on base, and allowed four stolen bases. What a complete disaster.

Colorado 5 Philadelphia 8
: The Rockies need Houston Street to return and quickly, because Manny Corpas is no longer wanted. Corpas blew the save against the Phillies when he allowed a Carlos Ruiz tie-breaking single in the ninth inning. This was even more of an fail for Corpas and the Rockies because the Phillies left 11 men on base including 5 in scoring position and they still allowed them to win.
