Foul Ball: Red Sox Take Out Their Frustrations & Mets Crash Back to Earth

Boston 17 Anaheim 8: After being swept by Baltimore, the Red Sox took out their frustrations on the Angels. The Red Sox scored seven runs in the sixth inning capped off with a Dustin Pedroia three-run home run. Bill Hall and Adrian Beltre both hit their first homers in a Red Sox uniform. The Greek God Kevin Youkilis also homered in the game.

Cincinnati 3 NY Mets 2, 11 Innings: Mets fans can now crash back down to Earth. Laynce Nix hit a pinch-hit home run in the 11th inning to give the Reds the victory. Nix's home run barely made it over the wall. “I didn’t think it was going out,” said Nix, who watched it the whole way. “I thought it was too high, but it carried far enough.” A Mets fan just cried in his beer.

Chicago White Sox 5 Kansas City 1: The Royals continue losing. Yesterday they were shut out by Jake Peavy who picked up his first victory for the White Sox. Peavy threw seven innings giving up no runs, four hits, and striking out nine. Alex Rios and Adruw Jones each drove in two runs for Chicago, yes that Andruw Jones.

Ozzie Guillen Quote: Ozzie is up and down with his ballclub. As evidence with this quote from the AP recap, “We played the way I think, personally the way we should be playing,” White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen said. “We got a few stolen bases, we got one home run, we played pretty good defense, the pitching was good.”

Philadelphia 3 St. Louis 6: Jaime Garcia continues to dominate early in the season. Garcia shut down the Phillies in six innings giving up three hits, one run, while striking out six. David Freese drove in three runs while Colby Rasmus knocked in two runs. Phillies Jayson Werth has reached base all 25 games this season.

Charlie Manuel Quote: Chuck was thrown out of the game for arguing an interference call on Joe Blanton. From the AP recap, “They said Blanton was in the grass and interfered with the throw,” Manuel said. “Hopefully he knew the third baseman made the throw and not the catcher.”

Cleveland 1 Toronto 5: Blue Jays' Brett Cecil took a perfect game into the seventh inning despite suffering from a sinus infection. I have to give the guy credit, I've had sinus infections and I always feel like dying. Now imagine trying to pitch like Cecil?

Minnesota 10 Detroit 4: Despite missing Joe Mauer, the Twins offense did just fine without him. Wilson Ramos contributed nicely in place of Mauer going 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Michael Cuddyer hit a three-run home run and Scott Baker picked up the victory for the Twins.

Oakland 2 Texas 4: Rich Harden was impressive against his former team. Harden pitched seven innings giving up no runs, two hits, and striking out nine. Michael Young went 3-for-5 with an RBI, while Justin Smoak hit his second career home run. Dallas Braden picked up the loss for Oakland.
