Foul Ball: Karma Pays Back the Phillies & The Nationals Are Actually Good!

NY Mets 4 Washington 6: I guess I can't call Washington the Natinals anymore. I can't make fun of the Nationals because they are four games above .500 and only a game and a half out of first place in the NL East. The Nationals are even winning in late innings. In last night's game against the Mets, Roger Bernadina hit a two-run home run off of Francisco Rodriguez in the ninth inning. That's Rodriguez's second blown save in a week.

Mike Pelfrey Quote: Only a Mets pitcher would give up three RBIs to the opposing pitcher. From the AP recap, “It’s usually going to be a long day when the pitcher has three RBIs on the other side,” Pelfrey said. “That’s unacceptable.”

Colorado 4 Philadelphia 3, 10 Innings: Miguel Olivo had himself a great day. Olivo went 5-for-5 against the Phillies including a game-winning home run in the tenth inning. The Rockies tied the game in the seventh inning off of a Brad Hawpe double. All I have to say is, the Phillies fucked with karma by stealing signs and karma bit them in the ass.

Detroit 2 NY Yankees 0: Rick Porcello shut down the Yankees in seven innings giving up only four hits, three walks, and two strikeouts. Magglio Ordonez and Brian Boesch drove in both runs for the Tigers in the sixth inning.

Detroit 0 NY Yankees 8: The Tigers and Yankees traded shutouts in the doubleheader. Porcello shut out the Yankees in the first game and Phil Hughes shut out the Tigers in the second game. Hughes also went seven innings giving up five hits and striking out eight. Mark Teixeira drove in three runs for the Yankees.

Pittsburgh 0 Cincinnati 5: Like the Nationals, the Reds are four games over .500 and are a game and a half out of first place. The Reds swept the Pirates with back-to-back shutouts. Johnny Cueto one-hit the Pirates on Tuesday and Homer Bailey four-hit the Pirates on Wednesday. Bailey, picking up his first win of the season, went nine innings giving up four hits and striking out six.

Boston 2 Toronto 3: Shawn Marcum and the Blue Jays were able to salvage the final game of a three-game series. Marcum pitched seven innings giving up no runs, two hits, and striking out six. Travis Snider homered, doubled and drove in all three runs for the Blue Jays. The Blue Jays finished the ten game road trip with a 7-3 record.

Milwaukee 2 Atlanta 9: The team with the worst home record in the majors, were swept at home by the lowly Braves. Worst of all, they gave up nine runs to the pathetic Braves offense. Filling in for an injured Chipper Jones, Brooks Conrad homered, doubled, and drove in four runs for the Braves. The worst part of the game for the Brewers was the fact their bullpen gave up seven runs in the last seven innings.

Bobby Cox Quote: Good ole Bobby is feeling good about his team again. From the AP recap, “You need to have confidence and get a little swagger back,” Braves manager Bobby Cox said.

Anaheim 3 Tampa Bay 4: The Rays scored twice on passed balls by backup Angels catcher Ryan Budde. That's an epic fail. David Price picked up his third straight win with a 6 1/2 innings performance. The Angels were full of fail in the day besides the Budde passed balls as they left seven men on base including five in scoring position.

St. Louis 6 Houston 9: In the past two games, the Houston Astros have scored their allotted runs for the next two weeks. Wandy Rodriguez carried a one-hitter into the sixth inning and Lance Berkman homered in his second straight game. Cardinals shortstop Brendan Ryan committed once again committed two errors in the game, his second straight two error game.

  2. Hi there. Just wanted to point out that Roger Bernadina hit his home run off of Mets Francisco Rodriguez (K-Rod), not Felix Hernandez (he is a Mariners pitcher).
