Foul Ball: The Return!

With the first baseball game of the year last night can only mean one thing. The return of Foul Ball! Remember Foul Ball is a quick recap of a handful of games each weekday. With the recap I look at either the wacky stats from the night or the wacky quotes usually coming from Ozzie Gullien. Home teams come first in the boxscore.

Red Sox 9 Yankees 7: The baseball season officially starts today, but last night was the first game of the season. The Red Sox erased a 5-1 deficit against the Yankees and an enormous C.C. Sabathia. The Yankees would take a 2-run lead in the seventh inning, but a beardless Chan Ho Park would blow the lead to the Sox.

Quote of the Night from the AP: “It fell definitely on my shoulders. I’m very disappointed,” Sabathia said. “I had a pretty good lead and I was trying to throw the ball over the plate a little too much.” Eat another cheeseburger, C.C.

Video of the Day: Classy Red Sox fans flip off the Yankees.

  1. As much as I like to find fault in Red Sox fans, sadly, I can't fault them at all for wanting to flip off Nick Swisher. Any normal and sane baseball fan would do the same.
