Foul Ball: Opening Day!

Houston 2 San Francisco 5: Tim Lincecum picked up where he left off from last year. Lincecum went seven innings giving up no runs, no walks, four hits and striking out seven. Mark DeRosa homered in his debut for the Giants. Despite giving up three runs, Roy Oswalt pitched beautifully going six innings and striking out three.

Washington 1 Philadelphia 11
: New season, same old Natinals. The Natinals pitching staff combined to give up 11 runs, 13 hits, 9 walks, and two home runs. They only managed to strikeout 4 Phillies hitters. Ryan Howard and Placido Polanco both homered for the Phillies. Doc Halladay went seven innings giving up three hits and one run in his debut for the Phillies.

Chicago White Sox 6 Cleveland 0: The Indians are who we thought they were. The Indians opening day pitcher Jake Westbrook only lasted 4 innings giving up five hits, five runs, and one home run. Mark Buehrle was sharp for the White Sox going seven innings giving up no runs, three hits, and striking out 3. Buehrle also made one of the best plays I've ever seen a pitcher make.

Cincinnati 6 St. Louis 11: Albert Pujols picked up where he left off from last year by hitting two home runs against the Reds and driving in 3 runs. Yadier Molina hit a grand slam in the ninth inning to put the game out of reach. Chris Carpenter was solid going six innings giving up two runs and five hits.

Texas 5 Toronto 4: Poor Shaun Marcum. The guy was carrying a no-hitter into the seventh inning, then everyone jinxed the poor guy. Marcum lost the no-hitter and allowed the Rangers to tie the game in the seventh inning. The Blue Jays retook the lead in the eighth inning, only to blow the lead and the game. Marcum ended up with a no decision at the end of the game.

Kansas City 4 Detroit 8: This was suppose to be the Royals day. Zach Greinke was outdualing Justin Verlander, the Royals lineup had scored four runs in the first eight innings. And then, the Royals brought in their relievers. Roman Colon, Robinson Tejeda, and Juan Cruz gave up six hits and six runs in the seventh inning to allow Detroit to come from behind for the victory. Greinke went six innings giving up six hits and two runs.

Video of the Day: At least Rays fans have Evan Longoria to cheer for.
