Foul Ball: Fister'd

Oakland 6 Seattle 2: Brett Anderson, clutch hits, and great defense won the game for the Oakland A's. Rajai Davis robbed Milton Bradley of a home run in the 2nd inning with an outstanding catch. Kurt Suzuki also made a great catch in foul territory. Brett Anderson went six innings for Oakland giving up three hits, no runs and striking out four. Chip Caray's favorite player Doug Fister didn't even get past the fourth inning.

Texas 1 Toronto 3: What the hell has gotten into Vernon Wells? Wells and his huge contract has hit four home runs in three games. Wells hit his fourth home run in the ninth inning against Frank Francisco that kick started a three-run rally for the Jays who would go on to win. Wells had a nagging wrist injury that hurt his production last year. The Jays are praying Wells is finally healthy this year.

Cincinnati 2 St. Louis 1: Jonny Gomes hit the game-winning home run in the ninth inning to give the Reds the victory. This not the reason why I bring up this game, I brought it up because of this blog post. This post is all you need to know about Reds manager Dusty Baker and why I'm glad he is no longer managing the Reds. The blogger talks about Tuesday's game when Baker made a particular pitching change.
"In the 7th inning of last evening's contest between the Cardinals and Reds, a game that at that point was still wide open, Dusty Baker brought in his nearly-virginal relief pitcher, young righty Logan Ondrusek, to face Brendan Ryan. With Albert Pujols on deck, Ondrusek quickly walked Ryan, unable to find the strike zone like Mr. Krause is unable to find a meaningful relationship with a woman (though, to his credit, he does surprisingly well with primates). Instead of yanking Ondrusek like he probably should have, Dusty left the kid -- in only his second Major League appearance -- in the game to face one of the greatest hitters of all time.

Albert rocked him.

So did Matt Holliday.

Game over.

Welcome to the Big Leagues, kid! If your arm didn't hurt before you became a Redleg, believe me when I say you won't even be able to shake hands after Dusty's done with ya!

Hate me 'cuz I put it out there, just don't hate me 'cuz I'm right.

Peace,

Jeff"

6 Washington 5 Philadelphia: Well so much for that 162-0 season for the Phillies. And so much for the Natinals going 0-162 on the season. Ryan Zimmerman's bloop double that was inches away from being foul drove in the winning run for the Nationals in the seventh inning.

Los Angeles Angels 1 Minnesota 10: Jim Thome, Brendan Harris, and Delmon Young all hit home runs for the Twins in the game. The Twins took three out of four games in Anaheim.

Chicago White Sox 3 Cleveland 5, 11 Innings: Asdrubal Cabrera knocked in the winning run for the Indians in the eleventh inning and Grady Sizemore added an extra run. Sizemore drove in two runs on the night and appears to be healthy after only playing 108 games last season. The White Sox struck out 12 times in the game which fired up Ozzie.

Ozzie Guillen Quote: Third game of the year and Ozzie is already feeling it. From the AP: “We don’t have the luxury to strike out with people on base,” Guillen said. “With this ballclub, we have to put the ball in play, make things happen. I know they’re trying to do better, I know it’s only the third game of the season, I know it’s cold, but we have too many strikeouts.”
