Boston 1 Tampa Bay 7: Don't look know, but the Red Sox have lost four straight games and could be swept at home by the Rays tomorrow. Boston is already five games out of first place in the AL East. Yesterday they were shut out for eight innings by the Rays Matt Garza who also only allowed four hits and struck out five. Carlos Pena and B.J. Upton both hit two-run home runs off of Jon Lester.
Florida 2 Philadelphia 0: Cole Hamels pitched brilliantly, but his offense gave him no support in the game thus picking up the Matt Cain Award for the day. Hamels went eight innings giving up seven hits and a Dan Uggla home run. Uggla drove in the other run in the game for the Marlins, as the Phillies offense only managed four hits and four walks in the game while leaving nine men on base.
Washington 7 Milwaukee 11: Jason Marquis should have never left Colorado for the money. He was the second best pitcher on a playoff team, now he's giving up seven runs without recording an out in the 1st inning for the Natinals. Yes that's right, Marquis gave up seven runs in the 1st inning against the Brewers without recording an out before being pulled. Some times the money just isn't worth it. Ask Mike Hampton about that.
Atlanta 4 Colorado 3: One day after being No-Hit by Ubaldo Jimenez, the Braves won on a Jason Heyward walkoff. Heyward added to his legend, by driving in two-runs on a single in the ninth inning with two outs and the bases loaded. Fill-in closer Franklin Morales blew the save for the Rockies.
Cleveland 7 Chicago White Sox 4: Shin-Soo Chin went 2 for 3 with a walk hitting a Grand Slam and driving in five runs for the Indians in the game. Cleveland swept the struggling White Sox right out of Cleveland.
Ozzie Guillen Quote: As you can imagine, Ozzie isn't pleased with his team. From the AP recap: “I can’t enjoy these games,” Guillen said. “Hopefully, I can enjoy my kid’s game.”
Los Angeles 2 San Francisco 1: I'd rather not talk about this game. I'm just going to pretend it never happened.
Oakland 3 Baltimore 8: Look on the bright side, the Orioles won't go to 1-12 on the season and weren't swept by the A's. The Orioles pounded Oakland starting pitcher Brett Anderson in the third and fourth inning, scoring six runs off the young left-hander. Ty Wigginton drove in four of the Orioles runs in the game. Jim Johnson didn't blow the save for the Orioles.
