Rivalry week continues with Syracuse vs. UConn and Duke vs. UNC. While UNC is having a down year, the UNC vs. Duke game is still one of the most compelling games of the year. Also we can watch kt1000 smile as Clemson continues to choke down the stretch. Should be fun! Leave comments and don't be a troll.

I'm still kinda bummed the Terps game got postponed.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm going to be rooting for Duke tonight. I definitely don't want them going into the MD game Saturday coming off a loss.
I don't know why, but I've always been a huge Boeheim fan.
ReplyDeleteFlyers are trailing the Devils 2-1.
ReplyDeleteMichael Leighton gave up one of the worst goals I have ever seen.
1-0 Blue Jackets over the Sharks in the 1st period. Just like that game against Toronto.
ReplyDeletehave you heard Joe Beninati speak in French? because I now have.
ReplyDeletereally you could just switch Florida State and Clemson and no one would know the difference...easy non-conf schedules means they get incredibly overrated.
ReplyDelete@KT: Did you hear that LeVar Arrington rant a couple of days ago on Clinton Portis? I listened to it and it's epic. I'll post about it tomorrow.
ReplyDelete@ kt: Pourquoi est-ce que Joe Beninati parle le francais?
ReplyDelete@Keith i have not heard that rant. the signal of the station LeVar is on doesn't reach Baltimore. I get the ESPN DC affiliate, where Kornheiser has a show.
ReplyDelete@JFein Une tentative boiteuse par Beninati pour montrer qu'il est ce soir a Montreal.
and Beninati just did it again!
ReplyDeletei can't wait for the Comcast-NBC merger to go through so that they can replace Mike Emrick with this fool.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I'm hoping they replace Doc with Randy Hahn.
ReplyDeleteSyracuse only leading 61-60 w/ 3:51 to go
ReplyDeleteDyson 3 ties at 65-65
ReplyDeleteFlyers and Devils are tied at 2 heading into the 3rd.
ReplyDeleteJohn Saunders' voice nearly cracked calling that 3-pointer
ReplyDelete65-65 45.5 to go in Syracuse
ReplyDeleteA win could save UConn's season
I'm going to watch the 2nd half of the Kings game, then turn it to the UNC-Duke game.
ReplyDeleteOh unbelievable...the Raycom ACC blackout is going to keep me from seeing the end of the Syracuse game.
ReplyDeleteFuck Raycom
GA Tech loses to Miami
ReplyDeletePaul Hewitt sucks
"It's the game that brings the nation to Tobacco Road" Tim Brando
ReplyDeletehe must not watch much ESPN...
Syracuse finished off UConn.
ReplyDeleteJoe Beninati is going crazy that the NHL refs dare to wave off an Ovechkin goal.
ReplyDeleteIf only UNC had a point guard.......
ReplyDeleteSIMON GAGNE WINS IT IN OVERTIME FOR THE FLYERS!!!!! WOOOHOOOOO!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteJFein, I bet Rex Ryan is somewhere cheering for that Flyers victory...or eating. One of the two.
ReplyDelete/Hello, Friends
//rare off night
We miss you RJBO. I'm hoping you'll be around for the tournament. We need you for the live blogs.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteGood news & bad news:
ReplyDeleteGood news: I should be around for the live blogs in March (provided I get my tax return soon & jettison this computer Terri Schiavo owned).
Bad news: I'll be around for the live blogs in March (the job I currently have was only for 6 months).
Oof RJBO. I hope you can find a job soon. I was barely able to find a job here in Sacramento.
ReplyDeleteDickie V is completely hard right now watching this game, especially seeing as CBS stole a Duke-UNC game last year.
ReplyDeleteTyler Hansbrough? The last thing I remember him doing was finding some girl's lost dog.
ReplyDeleteTim Brando has lost his mind...he's doing the game with Dan Bonner, but he keeps calling him 'Mike'
ReplyDeleteaaaaaaaaaahhh Michael Reghi
/averts eyes, covers ears
Joe Beninati: "the Caps, the white girlies, er jerseys"
ReplyDelete*What'cha talking 'bout, young fella? Reghi's always BRINGIN' IT STRONG!*
ReplyDeletekt, I sometimes catch his radio show out of Cleveland; it's pretty hard to listen to most times, but dude's caught a cult following there after he was unceremoniously ousted by the Cavs for Pistons' longtime voice, Fred MacLeod.
@RJBO: Are you still listening to Rome?
ReplyDelete@RJBO Reghi was Orioles play by play man from 97-03. believe me, his style was not suited to baseball.
ReplyDelete"TRACK...WALL...SEE YOU LATER YOUNG FELLA"-Reghi's HR call
This year's Duke team is uglier than the 02 Kings team that featured Peja, Vlade, Scott Pollard, and Jon Barry.
ReplyDeleteKeith, I watch TV and listen to Rome in NBC Olympics mode: heavily tape delayed, usually after I get off work (@1 am or 5am).
ReplyDeleteKt, I remember Reghi on baseball as the regional #2 for a blacked out game on ESPN and as being a "success story" from the Specs Howard School of Broadcasting here.
Sorry I have not been commenting much on this Duke-UNC game. Besides my only paying half attention to Dickie V's felatios, I've been having a discussion about New Jersey over at Broad Street Hockey.
ReplyDelete@RJBO: Oof, tape delay sucks but at least your still listening. I'm not a huge fan of Kyle Brandt and his need to always try to get on air during the show.
ReplyDeleteBTW, did you ever hear why Rome and T-Rodge ever split up.
@ RJBO: It's great to have you here, but I hope that you are able to find a job as soon as possible.
ReplyDeleteCaps score a goal with 18.4 seconds to goal, and force OT in Montreal
ReplyDeleteDon't really know, Keith.
ReplyDeleteIf Dickie V doesn't stop quoting Chad Ford's rankings...
Ford was the one propping up Darko Milicic's NBA chances. No team would be dumb enough to draft him #2 overall...
@RJBO: You must have read Simmons book on basketball. He ripped Chad Ford about that.
ReplyDeleteDidn't need to, Keith. I was one of the fools thinking he would've developed into something other than a chain smoker & strip club frequenter.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the kind words, JFein.
@ kt: Go Caps! Habs losing helps the Flyers greatly.
ReplyDeleteI don't know how much of a compliment this is to you, but I'm not the only Flyer fan terrified of playing the Caps in the playoffs.
@RJBO: You have to read that book just to see Simmons talk about how Darko became more pale and more depressed looking.
ReplyDeleteHabs score in OT and the Caps win streak dies at 14 in a row...
ReplyDeletenice to finally see some action in this basketball game
ReplyDeleteA part of me wants UNC to win this game just to laugh at Duke for losing to a lesser team but another part of me wants Duke to win to further bury the hopes that UNC has to make the Big Dance.
ReplyDeleteI'm really conflicted right now.
@JFein the Caps desperately need to gets some defensemen who actually play defense. that's why I think they're vulnerable.
ReplyDeletekt, you've got the Raycom broadcast, right? At least you get a few hours away from the impending "Danica Patrick racing in minor league NASCAR" blizzard ESPN is forecasting.
ReplyDelete@JFein look at 2000...if UNC gets 7-9 or 8-8 in the league, they will make the tournament
ReplyDelete@Kris: That's also the year UNC made the Final 4 despite only being the 8th seed.
ReplyDelete@RJBO i do have Raycom tonight. But that also means Tim Brando. He could be outdoing Vitale in singing the praises of these teams, coaches, and the importance of the rivalry.
ReplyDelete@Keith Yes. But a lot of people on that Selection Sunday thought UNC had no business making the field, and they made it in on the basis of their name brand.
ReplyDelete@Kris: I have a feeling UNC might sneak in this year just because of their name. Especially if they win tonight.
ReplyDelete"Larry" Davis, Dickie V?
ReplyDeleteEd's imaginary twin brother, RJBO.
ReplyDeleteI am getting more confident that Maryland can go into Duke Saturday and beat those guys.
ReplyDeleteWhy are Ron Franklin & Bill Raftery on Baylor-Nebraska? I've seen Big 10 games more exciting than that. Big 10!
ReplyDeleteWow, RJBO. I turned on that game and yeah a Big Ten game would be more exciting than that one.
ReplyDeleteum, guys, have you checked the score of this game recently? it's not exactly a barnburner.
ReplyDeleteBut, kt! It's Duke-North Carolina!! Nothing could be finer!
ReplyDelete/Tim Brando'd
"Fans of other teams around the country may bristle with all of the attention this rivalry gets, even with one of the teams being down. But it deserves every second of the attention and then some." Tim Brando
ReplyDeleteDid Brando say that or did Kirk Herbstreit say that about Ohio State-Michigan?
ReplyDeleteCould Dickie V please get his arm off of Shulman? That is disturbing me greatly.
ReplyDeleteit's good to have you back, RJBO
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling that UNC sneaks in as well. And why not? They are UNC and they play in the ACC! A perfectly legitimate reason for allowing any non-tourney worthy team into the tournament!
ReplyDeleteThanks, kt.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing better would be if Duke got rid of those jerseys with the faint logo tramp stamp on the back.
Fire Marshall Bill with the Dagger!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever rooted for Duke, but I'm glad their putting UNC out of their misery. And yes Kris, I think Maryland will go to Durham and beat Duke on Saturday.
ReplyDeletehow dare you insult Duke Cathedral like that RJBO!
ReplyDeleteand this is the worst shooting UNC team i've seen since 2002.
@JFein more ACC teams = more fun in the tourney! /ACC elitist'd
at least one of these teams made it to 60.
ReplyDeleteNew Mexico-UNLV better be more entertaining than Duke-UNC.
ReplyDelete/one of the 11 people with CBS College Sports
I can't believe you guys aren't excited about this big UC Davis vs. Pacific matchup on CSN Calfornia?
ReplyDelete"Maryland is one of those off the radar teams, because not many of their games are nationally televised" Tim Brando
ReplyDeleteexcuse me while I pull my hair out...
*changes channel to Baylor-Nebraska*
ReplyDeleteThat Epke Udoh would really help out a struggling team like Michigan.
/hope not to be this bitter about a transfer when Sam McGuffie plays for Rice
Well Duke wins, so LOL UNC AND THE NIT!
ReplyDelete@KT: You should have been here for the NCAA tournament live blogs. I had Brando the entire time and was always watching those games with a gun barrel in my mouth.
ReplyDelete/Iron Unkind
@RJBO: Why did those players transfer? Tired of Beilein?
ReplyDelete@Keith i think i saw 5 of the 6 games he called in that regional. He was beyond his usual level of awfulness.
ReplyDelete/The bank is open late
It could've been worse, kt. Tim Brando & Dickie V used to do select SEC games together for ESPN in the early '90s.
ReplyDelete/vomit ensues
Keith: Udoh didn't fit Beilein's "jacking up unnecessary 3's" system.
Yep. If Cal's loss wasn't bad enough last year, Brando made it ten times worse.
ReplyDeleteBaylor and Nebraska are down to the final seconds and it's a 1-point game! What a thriller!
ReplyDelete/Sarcasm
@RJBO: So I imagine Michigan fans aren't happy right now with either of the former West Virginia coaches?
ReplyDeleteAt least Beilein got the basketball team to the Tourney last year...with a victory over choking Clemson...with Brando on the call.
ReplyDelete/circle of life'd
@RJBO i remember watching Brando & Vitale do some ACC games together back then.
ReplyDeleteHow odd will it be to see Baylor in the NCAA Tournament?
ReplyDeleteIt's funny that Oliver Purnell has survived at Clemson for so long. Every year Clemson jumps out to a hot start, beats one of the top teams in the ACC, then choke down the stretch. It's like a yearly tradition.
ReplyDeleteLOL! Ron Franklin just mispronounced Bob Wischusen's name!
ReplyDelete@ kt: The NCAA tournament live blogs were the best. I was in tears from laughing so hard.
ReplyDelete/Thanks RJBO
@Keith You also just described Georgia Tech, and to a lesser extent, Florida State.
ReplyDeleteCBS College Sports finally gets a decent matchup of two Top-25 teams and a chick basketball game with less people than the Colts welcoming committee at the airport Monday goes to double overtime. Thanks for nothing.
ReplyDeleteGood night guys.
ReplyDelete@RJBO at least the guy doing the game is enthusiastic about the double OT.
ReplyDeleteand who knew women were allowed to play basketball in Utah?
Good night, Keith.
ReplyDeletekt, I don't know if you were ever privileged to catch any of the Brad James (thankfully, no relation) comments on AA's site the last few years, ain't shit going on there. The chicks need to do something in Mid-Utah!
/slightly inside joke'd
Thanks for the nice comments, guys. Either the beer has caught up with me, or Adrian Branch is that terrible (it's both), I'm out as well.
ReplyDelete@RJBO you must be loving the fact that this women'a game is going into a 3rd OT.
ReplyDeleteand when did pink become a TCU color?
this girl from Utah just made a 30 footer at the buzzer to force a 4th OT in Utah. pretty amazing
ReplyDeleteand the women's game finally ends with New Mexico and UNLV at halftime
ReplyDeleteNew Mexico/UNLV ended up being really good. Glad I stuck with it.
ReplyDelete
