Time for another college basketball open thread. Can UConn save their season? Can Villanova stay on pace for a number 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament? Can Kansas stay undefeated in Big XII play? Should be some exciting President's Day basketball. Leave comments and don't be a troll.Connecticut @ Villanova, 7:00 - ESPN: Sean McDonough, Bill Raftery, Jay Bilas
South Carolina State @ Morgan State, 7:00 - ESPNU: Charlie Neal, Stan Lewter
Kansas @ Texas A&M, 9:00 - ESPN: Brent Musburger, Bob Knight, Holly Rowe
Jackson State @ Texas Southern, 9:00 - ESPNU: Trey Bender, Stephen Howard
Go Nova!
ReplyDeleteI just got in from my 6-7:15 class and it's at commercial.
I hope we're winning.
UConn is very inconsistent. They lose to Cincy on Saturday and on Monday are taking it to Nova.
ReplyDeleteAs if 2 blizzards were not enough, we are now getting another 3 to 5 inches of snow tonight into tomorrow afternoon.
ReplyDeleteFun times.
It's always odd to see Villanova playing on the 76ers court, especially this year seeing as the Sixers changed their colors and their shade of blue, which used to sort of match Nova, but now, just looks odd knowing that a team with a dark blue symbol with a light blue stripe is playing on a court with royal blue.
ReplyDeleteThanks ESPN for not putting the Maryland game on any of your DirecTV channels and bumping it to ESPN360.
ReplyDelete@JFein: I hate to rub it in your face, but we're expected to be in the 70's all week with sun. It was so beautiful today that I wore shorts when I took the dog for a walk.
ReplyDelete@ kt: Well, you are playing Virginia.....
ReplyDelete@ 49er16: I prefer the cold to the warm, but damn, a nice breezy 70 degree day sounds quite lovely right about now, especially when it is snowing AGAIN.
ReplyDeleteI also prefer the cold to when it's 100 degrees in the Valley, but this weather is absolutely perfect. It's too bad the sun is going down.
ReplyDelete@JFein it's still the ACC. you wouldn't bump the MEAC or the SWAC on ESPNU to show it?
ReplyDeleteWow, kt, are you really that stupid?
ReplyDeleteBoth the MEAC and the SWAC are WAY better than that little unknown CAA conference or whatever it is that you watch.
/Sarcasm
//As if it wasn't overly obvious
This has been one of the most ridiculously reffed games I've ever seen.
ReplyDeleteI'm going out to watch the Terps.
The Sixers are not familiar with the concept of a lot of fans in the Wachovia Center.
ReplyDelete@ kt: TWERPS! ;-)
ReplyDelete/Fixed
Crap. How are we losing by 7 to UConn?
ReplyDeleteI really hate it when double Jeopardy! rounds deal with my anus.

ReplyDeleteUnrelated to anything of anything relevancy at all other than my own ego, but one of my FanShots at Broad Street Hockey was placed on the front page by the blog admins.
ReplyDeleteWoot woot for me!
You have to scroll down a couple of posts now to see it, but I was the person who first posted that Getzlaf was in and Carter was out for Team Canada.

where was this Vasquez Saturday?
ReplyDelete@JFein it's even worse when the Russian guy, and not the cute chicks, knows all about it ;-)
Vasquez w/ 18 pts in the 1st 11 minutes
ReplyDeleteI see the Twerps are playing like real Terps today. Good for them. But why must they pick on UVA and crap the bed against Duke?
ReplyDelete@JFein because Duke puts Singler on Vasquez and completely shuts him down.
ReplyDeleteWe are not just playing well enough tonight.
ReplyDeleteMD has 42, GV has 21 still 3:00 to play in the half
ReplyDelete@ kt: Really? You let the Sweating Man beat you?
ReplyDeleteTerps lead 52-34 at halftime
ReplyDeleteGreivis has 25. Too bad this isn't on a regular channel
@JFein sad, isn't it?
Down by 11 with 4:20 to go. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteOur #1 seed hopes just took a big hit.
@ kt: Yeah, it is.
ReplyDeleteWhoa, did one of our friends show up again? Why are anonymous comments off for the night?
The Captain showed up again, so no Anon comments for the night.
ReplyDeleteThat miss just killed our hopes in this game.
ReplyDeleteWhat are the odds that Villanova can force a turnover here and make things a bit interesting?
ReplyDelete"Shockingly, we are past the top of the hour here on the Big East portion of Big Monday" - Sean McDonough with the sarcasm FTW!
Ugh. A foul. With the way UConn is shooting FTs, Nova would have been better off trying to play some D there.
ReplyDeleteNow we need another 3. And quick.
ReplyDeleteCONNECTS! Now get the turnover!
ReplyDeleteWell they had the opportunity to pick up a turnover and a rebound there. But fail.
ReplyDeleteToo little too late but at least Nova is not packing it in whenafter all of the fans left.
ReplyDeleteGood news for Nova: if they can beat WVU again and if they can beat Cuse at Cuse and not at least make the semifinals of the BE tournament while not suffering any embarrassing losses, they should be good for a 1 seed.
Kansas losing to Texas A&M redeem this day slightly.
ReplyDeleteTerps won big, 85-66. Of course, I fully expect them to shit the bed Wednesday night at NC State.
ReplyDelete52-48 Texas A&M with 6:08 to go.
ReplyDeleteKU hasn't looked good all night. I'm surprised their only down by 2.
ReplyDeleteKansas up by 3 with 2 minutes left.
ReplyDeleteA&M has been given so many chances to win this game yet they have failed to do so thus far.
ReplyDeleteDon't shoot the 3 just yet, A&M. Take the 2 here and foul. Try to extend this game as long as possible.
ReplyDelete"Not a bad foul." - Bob Knight
ReplyDeleteNo shit! If they don't foul then Kansas will run out the clock and win the game!
Kansas survives as Texas A&M flat out failed to finish a game they had in the bag.
ReplyDeleteA&M completely shit their pants down the stretch of this game. What a debacle.
