The San Francisco Giants are an interesting case study. Their an interesting case study because every move they they make goes against everything they talk about.Just this offseason, the Giants said their goal was to get younger. So what do they do? Sign players all over 33 years old. You get the picture. The Giants management speak out of both sides of their mouth. So that's why this next story doesn't surprise me at all.
Giants ace Tim Lincecum is up for arbitration. Lincecum asked for $13 million. Sounds fair enough. He's only won back-to-back Cy Young awards despite a crappy lineup protecting. So what do the Giants do? Lowball him and offer $8 million. If the Giants and Lincecum don't come to a compromise and arbitration panel will decide the settlement. Just because I'm biased, I hope the arbitration panel decides Lincecum will receive $15 million just to stick it to that cheap ass organization. Lincecum has been the face of that franchise for two years and they reward him by lowballing a contract offer. And you wonder why Giants fans are so pissed off.
Then out off the things the Giants do, they re-sign catcher Bengie Molina to a one-year $4.5 million contract. On the same day they lowball Lincecum no less. Yes they re-signed the same Molina who the Mets said no to. Yes they re-signed the same Molina who GM Brian Sabean said he wasn't going to re-sign. Yes they re-signed the same Molina who was the worst On Base Percentage in the majors. Yes they re-signed the same Molina who is so slow on the base paths, that you can't hide him anywhere in your lineup.

So to recap, the Giants sign old aging veterans after they said they wanted to go young. They lowballed Lincecum in arbitration on the same day they re-signed Molina to a 4.5 million dollar contract after they said "the ship has sailed on Molina."
Yes I'm angry with the Giants management, but is there a reason why I shouldn't be angry with them? Especially how Giants management speak out of both sides of their mouth.
The Giants right now just flat piss me off.
