Back for week 5 in college football. The mourning games don't look all that promising, but the afternoon and night games do. I will once again be updating this thread with my thoughts, pictures, and whatever videos JFein finds. So enjoy the games and feel free to leave your comments on the game that you are watching.
Here's this week's announcing schedule, must list, and Pam Ward Chronicles.
Mourning Games:
- Alabama is only up on Kentucky 7-6 in the 2nd quarter. Penalties and Kentucky's defense have killed the Crimson Tide offense so far. It's too bad Mike Hartline is the Kentucky quarterback, or the Wildcats would be leading this game. On the other hand though, Kentucky has been very successful running the ball off the guard.
- Sorry for the lack of updates, but these mourning games are God awful. The only game worth watching is on the Big Ten Network. Michigan St. is beating Michigan 20-6 with time running out in the 4th quarter.
- HOLY HELL! TATE FORCIER HAS DONE IT AGAIN! HE LEAD MICHIGAN ON A 2:00 MINUTE 80 YARD DRIVE TO TIE THE GAME AGAINST MICHIGAN STATE. THAT GAME IS NOW GOING INTO OVERTIME. FORGET TEBOW, WHERE'S THE STATUES OF TATE FORCIER?
- All right put away your Forcier statues. In overtime against Sparty, Forcier threw an deflected interception in the end zone. Michigan State then scored a touchdown in the overtime to beat Michigan for the second consecutive year.
UPDATE!: Here's the video to the terrific ending to the Michigan-Michigan State game.
Other than that game, the rest of these games are terrible. I'm going to eat lunch and come back for the afternoon games.
Afternoon Games:
- Watching the LSU-Georgia game is painful. Georgia hasn't been able to anything on offense all day. Matter of fact Georgia only had one first down in the first half. LSU isn't much better on offense. LSU has been able to drive down the field on Georgia, but has only came away with two field goals. 6-0 LSU at half.
- Without Kevin Prince playing quarterback, UCLA has struggled at Stanford. The Bruins are losing 14-3 at half. Kevin Craft has been playing quarterback for UCLA and he has proven that he is the worst quarterback on the West Coast with his performance today so far.
- The first half in the Washington-Notre Dame game has just ended with a Washington field goal, leaving the Huskies with the 17-16 lead. Locker looked good driving Washington down the field with time running out in the half to set up the field goal attempt.
- It took overtime this week to escape with a victory over a mediocre this week. Notre Dame beat Washington 37-30 in overtime on a Robert Hughes run. I'm not impressed at all this season with Notre Dame. Other people can slobber all over them, but I won't. They needed late-game heroics to beat Michigan State, Purdue, and Washington this season. I'm sorry that isn't very impressive.
- Bizarre ending to the Georgia-LSU game. With LSU leading 12-7 late in the 4th quarter, Georgia QB Joe Cox lead the Bulldogs down the field that set up a A.J. Green touchdown pass. A horrible touchdown celebration penalty on Green gave LSU great field position. Charles Scott took a handoff 33-yards for the game winning LSU touchdown. While they had to be helped out by the refs, LSU did escape with the victory to remain undefeated. The Florida Tebows visit LSU next week in a match up of undefeated teams.
Oh yeah, in this game a LSU player was throwing up on the field. And CBS decided that was important enough to show the audience. With the LSU player throwing up, CBS announcer Gary Danielson got off this line, "that's the definition of sick." Thanks Garry.
Night Games:
- Thanks to JFein, we have found some more videos. The first one is the game-winning touchdown from LSU against Georgia.
- Here is the game-winning touchdown in the Notre Dame-Washington game. Once again Notre Dame gets lucky.
- During Gameday, Lee Corso put on the Florida State head gear while in Boston College. Well an Eagles fan didn't like that and threw a hard hat at Mr. Corso.
- Oklahoma is leading 10-7 over Miami at halftime. Jacory Harris looked like a deer in the headlights at first, but settled down nicely by the end of the half.
- The same can't be said for Kevin Riley of Cal. Since throwing an interception in the end zone on the first drive of the game, Riley lost all of his confidence. With Riley unable to complete a pass, USC has loaded the box to stop Jahvid Best. USC currently leads 20-0 at halftime.
Clemson-Maryland are both so bad, that I'd rather watch an Ivy League game on Versus.
ReplyDeleteWow......you know it's a bad afternoon of football when the most compelling game is Wisconsin and Minnesota.
ReplyDelete@ 49er16: Now this announce team on ESPN is the trio from hell. Pasch is a good PbP announcer (he just can't catch a break with good partners). But add Wischusen in there, and it's officially The Trio From Hell.
ReplyDelete@JFein, it's funny you call them the trio from hell. Two weeks ago when I talked to my dad about the Cal-Minnesota game, he asked me who the announcers where. I said that is was the trio from hell.
ReplyDeleteAnd he said, "They are fucking terrible." So yeah, they are that bad.
Alabama has already scored a touchdown against Kentucky and that game isn't even a minute old yet.
ReplyDeleteA Wisconsin QB should never throw the ball.
ReplyDeleteWhoa. Minnesota leads Wisconsin in a semi-entertaining game.
ReplyDelete@ 49er16: That's what I was referring too. ;-) You posted that either here or at AA or someplace......
ReplyDeleteI like Pasch, but Wischusen officially makes them the trio from hell.
Poor Minnesota. They have no trophy's in the trophy cases.
ReplyDeleteThey were just talking about how important Paul Bunyan's Axe was to Minnesota, but then they went on to say how Minnesota plays 4 trophy games.
ReplyDeleteBasically my question is for anyone who is a little more familiar with Minnesota football than I am, is the Axe considered more important in those parts than the other trophies?
Yes, because Wisconsin is a border state and Paul Bunyan is a mythical figure in that part of the country.
ReplyDeleteSomehow Michigan has zero yards on offense, but kicked a field goal. 7-3 Michigan St.
ReplyDeleteWow. I have now literally and figuratively become dumber from having listened to Wishusen, Griese, and Spielman talk about the presidents and their guesses for who was president in 1890, when Minny and Wisky 1st met.
ReplyDeleteWhy do you call him Wishusen?
ReplyDeleteKentucky has three personal fouls already and the 1st quarter isn't even over yet.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDelete@ 49er16: Because I don't proofread as well as I should. ;-)
ReplyDeleteIt's too bad Kentucky has Mike Hartline as their QB. Or they would be beating Alabama 14-7 instead of being down 7-6.
ReplyDeleteThe Big Ten used Michael Wilbon to reprsent their conference.
ReplyDeleteGreg Paulus just threw a beautiful interception.
ReplyDeleteTouchdown Alabama. 14-6
ReplyDeleteHoly Crap, JFein! I didn't even realize that Pasch isn't calling the Minny-Wisky game.
ReplyDeleteNow Alabama has scored on a defensive touchdown. There goes the upset in Lexington.
ReplyDeleteSouth Florida has turned the ball over seven times in the first half but is still beating the Paulus' 14-13.
ReplyDeleteFake punt fail by Michigan. Now Sparty gets the ball on Michigan's 10 yard line.
ReplyDeleteYep, Wischusen is in instead of Pasch. I don't know why.
ReplyDeleteSorry I have not been around much, but really, these are some terrible early games.
I don't blame you, JFein. These are some terrible games. Good time though for me to catch up on some homework;-) I actually typed up my essay that is due on Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteCrap. Now YouTube's down.
ReplyDeleteAs if this could not get any worse.
At least the Wisky-Minny game is now interesting.
ReplyDeleteTouchdown Wisky. It's over.
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I say these games are terrible, the Wis-Minn game and the Sparty-Mich game have become interesting.
ReplyDeleteTOUCHDOWN MIGHIGAN!!! FORCIER WORKS ANOTHER MIRACLE.
ReplyDeleteWhoa. I turned my back and all of a sudden Minnesota is back in it.
ReplyDeleteFORGET TEBOW
ReplyDeleteThom Brennaman believes this is blasphemy.
Wisconsin escapes with the victory over Minnesota. And Forcier was intercepted in the end zone against Michigan State.
ReplyDeleteSPARTY ESCAPES WITH THE OT VICTORY!!!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat finishes in Sparty and Minnesota, but now lets to get to the real games of the afternoon.
ReplyDeleteMaryland is going to beat Clemson. Where's kt?
ReplyDeleteTurnovers already in the ND-Udubb game, LSU-UGA game, and UCLA-Furd game.
ReplyDeleteTOUCHDOWN WASHINGTON. 7-0 UDUBB
ReplyDeleteTD Washington off a draw with Locker.
ReplyDeleteGeorgia holds LSU to a FG. 3-0 LSU
ReplyDeleteGreat job by Washington to hold The Fighting Weis to a FG. 7-3 Washington
ReplyDelete@JFein, Nova is on Versus. And they are beating William & Mary 14-0.
ReplyDeleteFINALLY!! A PENN STATE TOUCHDOWN!
ReplyDeleteSadly, I don't get Versus. :-(
ReplyDeleteGO NOVA!!!
I will be back in about an hour JFein. Keep writing down comments for I can update the thread.
ReplyDeleteIt's off to the BU football game for me.
ReplyDeleteI should be back around the start of the primetime games.
Sorry, Keith. :-(
ReplyDeleteAnother ND FG and it's 7-6.
ReplyDeleteNo problems ;-) Also I will be around tomorrow for the NFL live blog.
ReplyDeleteThese guys are acting as if they've never seen Washington play.
ReplyDeleteWe know Locker can run the ball well.
Washington is so bad on defense.
ReplyDeleteClausen is doing what he wants.
Time to bend but not break again.
Can the Seahawks draft Desmond Trufant so we can have the Trufants in our seconday sometime in 2012?
ReplyDelete9-7 Irish take the lead.
ReplyDeleteBACKWARD PASS BY CLAUSEN UNDER PRESSURE AND IT IS A FUMBLE!!!! TOUCHDOWN HUSKIES AS TRUFANT SCOOPS AND SCORES!
ReplyDeleteWHAT AN EFFORT BY GOLDEN TATE!!! CLAUSEN ELUDES PRESSURE AND FINDS TATE WHO BREAKS SOME TACKLES AND SCORES!!!
ReplyDeleteWatching the LSU-UGA game is like torture. Both offenses stink.
ReplyDeleteClausen's throw to Armando Allen is off his hands and right to Donald Butler for an interception! Big chance for the Huskies to score before halftime.
ReplyDeleteOh give me a break.
ReplyDeleteLocker is sacked, loses the ball, ND recovers.
No one like you, Notre Dame.
Clausen just sacked himself.
ReplyDeleteRoll Locker out of the pocket, Sark.
ReplyDeleteHoly Crap! Washington is in FG range.
ReplyDeleteDid Locker know he had a TO?
ReplyDeleteOh well a chance for 3.
And Washington goes into halftime with the 17-16 lead.
ReplyDeleteYES!!!!
ReplyDelete17-16 Huskies at the half.
Stay classy, Anon.
ReplyDeletePlease Anon keep those thoughts to yourself.
ReplyDeleteCOME ON HUSKIES!
ReplyDeleteGolden Tate is kind of good.
ReplyDeleteHow hard is it to tackle?
ReplyDeleteI don't know SSR, but I've seen a lot teams have problems tackling.
ReplyDeleteBoo's coming from the Irish crowd.
ReplyDeleteReally bad tackling here.
ReplyDeleteGeorgia goes for it on 4th and goal and scores a touchdown. 7-6 UGA
ReplyDeleteTouchdown Washington!!!!
ReplyDeleteKEARSE!!!!!
ReplyDeleteNice play Clausen.
ReplyDeleteYAY POLK!
ReplyDeleteWashington is too good to pull a Michigan St./Purdue choke job.
ReplyDeleteThat looked like a Washington touchdown?
ReplyDeleteLocker has to get lower than that.
ReplyDeleteNice job by Washington holding ND to a FG.
ReplyDeleteAlso CBS is showing a LSU player throwing up.
That was gross of CBS to show that guy throwing up.
ReplyDeleteNotre Dame will win.
ReplyDeleteGeorgia is down 12-7 with 2:47 left in the game.
ReplyDeleteWIDE OPEN AND GEORGIA IS IN LSU'S RED ZONE.
ReplyDeletePOLK!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteTOUCHDOWN GEORGIA!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteTOUCHDOWN GEORGIA!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteDumb personel foul on Georgia. That will give LSU good field position, with two timeouts, and plenty of time.
ReplyDeleteTypical Mark Richt team.
And Georgia two-point conversion is no good. 13-12 Georgia with plenty of time and timeouts for LSU.
ReplyDeleteI hate to agree with Danielson, but that was a bogus personel foul.
ReplyDeleteI quit on the Pac-10. TD called back even though he was clearly in.
ReplyDeleteWashington is stuffed.
Field goal.
ROUGHING THE SNAPPER!!! FIRST DOWN HUSKIES!!!!
ReplyDeletePenalties are killing Georgia. LSU is going to win this game.
ReplyDeleteTOUCHDOWN LSU!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHow did Georgia not tackle Scott? That was horrendous. Still plenty of time for UGA with one timeout.
ReplyDeleteNow LSU was called for a celebration penalty. The ending of this game is bizarre.
ReplyDeleteGeorgia has one timeout and 42 seconds to score a touchdown.
ReplyDeleteUh oh, Mookie.
ReplyDeleteNotre Dame left too much time on the clock.
ReplyDeleteAnd somehow Notre Dame converts the 2-point conversion.
ReplyDeleteClausen went Shooter McGavin with the two pistols.
ReplyDeletePASS INTERFERENCE ON NOTRE DAME!!!! GIVES WASHINGTON THE BALL IN NOTRE DAME TERRITORY.
ReplyDeleteThis city is cursed. Move U-Dub to OK City.
ReplyDeleteNotre Dame is actually doing the smart thing and bringing pressure.
ReplyDeleteCAUGHT!!!!! 1ST DOWN U-DUB
ReplyDeleteJAMES JOHNSON!!!!
ReplyDeleteU-Dub is in FG range.
ReplyDeleteNot good, Washington.
ReplyDeleteYep, Washington is cursed.
ReplyDeleteNO INT!!!
ReplyDeleteIt might be overturned? Doubtful because they are in South Bend.
ReplyDeleteYES!!! NO INT!!!!
ReplyDeleteLocker at least gets them in better FG range.
ReplyDeleteTIED GAME!!!!
ReplyDeleteYES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteTied game! This one will most likely go to OT.
ReplyDeleteOT is South Bend.
ReplyDeleteGet a stop Washington.
ReplyDeleteTouchdown Notre Dame! And at the worst time I have to go meet someone. I'm going to have to miss the ending of this game.
ReplyDeleteEasy TD for Notre Dame.
ReplyDeleteNotre Dame get another luck win.
ReplyDeleteSend them to the BCS.
How Notre Dame escapes with these victories is beyond me.
ReplyDeleteBTW, the state of Washington is cursed. Between Kurt Cobain killing himself, to the Seahawks/Mariner, to the Sonics leaving, I will say Washington is cursed.
W00T!!! GO HUSKIES!!!! WE WON 45-10!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's official. Dan LaTorre > Tim Tebow.
Ron Franklin is calling the Cal-USC game. So even if Cal loses, at least get to enjoy Ron Franklin.
ReplyDeleteNow ESPN is showing Jerry Jones eating chicken wings in the owners box.
ReplyDeleteOof, the wind is blowing hard in Berkley.
ReplyDeleteHere are some videos, Keith:

MLB Update:
ReplyDeleteTwins win 5-4, Tigers are losing 3-0 in the 3rd.
OU picks off Jacory Harris and proceed to drive the length of the field for the TD.
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping USC-Cal is a better game on ESPN360.
why did Riley have to play the game of his life against the Terps?
ReplyDeletealso, the ACC is pathetic.
This game is Oregon all over again. Riley looks like shit, the Cal defense can't tackle.
ReplyDeleteCal will never play in a Rose Bowl.
MIKE RICHARDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDelete3-0 Flyers!
ESPN360 stopped working for me. :-(
ReplyDeleteI didn't think Riley could get worse, but he has.
ReplyDeleteI tell you what JFein, if USC scores on this drive, I'm watching another game.
ReplyDeleteUC Davis-Boise State is on a local channel for me.
The Cal defense has fallen apart. They can't tackle or get pressure on the QB. This game is going to be a blowout.
ReplyDelete@ JFein
ReplyDelete5-1 Caps...the Red Jesus is on the board again, as is Knuble.
enjoy Tuesday night...
Tedford has to pull Riley. He can't even complete a pass.
ReplyDeleteCal actually stuffed USC on 4th & 2. Cal has to do something here on offense to stay in this game.
ReplyDeleteIf Cal can't score on this drive, then I give up on this game. I will watch something else like last week.
ReplyDeleteOU goes up 10-0 on the U
ReplyDelete10-0 Sooners.
ReplyDeleteTigers losing 4-0 in the 6th...
ReplyDelete17-0 USC, Oregon all over again.
ReplyDeleteTedford has to pull Riley, he has no confidence.
Auburn leads Tennessee 13-0 in the 2nd Quarter
ReplyDeleteBig run by James! Canes finally have some life.
ReplyDelete59 consecutive points allowed by Cal...that's quite a streak
ReplyDeleteArkansas is thrashing Texas A&M in JerryWorld.
ReplyDeleteTouchdown Miami!
ReplyDeleteI must admit, I would like new Texas Stadium if Jerry Jones didn't own it. It's a beautiful stadium for college football.
ReplyDeletesince i wasn't here earlier, i am thrilled that Georgia lost because of that absolutely fucking awful celebration call.
ReplyDeleteTouchdown Tennessee, then Auburn blocks the extra point. 13-6 Auburn
ReplyDeleteThe problem with Cal is that they haven't had a good receiver since Desean Jackson.
ReplyDelete10-7 OU at halftime.
ReplyDelete4-1 White Sox in the 9th...
ReplyDeleteHURRICANES LEAD!
ReplyDeleteMiami has taken the lead 14-10
ReplyDelete"Hurricane Alert is up now for the Sooners"- Brent
I hate to admit it, but I'm watching the Sharks right now. Who would have thought I would watch Hockey over College Football.
ReplyDeletewho are the Sharks playing?
ReplyDeleteAL Central is tied! AL Central is tied! White Sox win 5-1

ReplyDeleteTouchdown Sooners.
ReplyDeleteUgh. And The World's Most Annoying Band Song is currently playing.
Yeah the Sooners fight song is lame.
ReplyDeleteBTW, Auburn is beating the Kiffin's by Ten.
Marleau just scored a short handed goal for the Sharks!
ReplyDelete2-0 Sharks
GOALLLLLLLLL
ReplyDeleteJOE THORNTON!!!!!!!!!!
3-0 SHARKS
THIS MAKES UP FOR THE CRAPPY CAL PERFORMANCE TONIGHT. THE SHARKS ARE TAKING IT TO THE GEESE.
My Flyers beat the Devils 5-2 so all in all for me, it was a good day of hockey.
ReplyDeleteWho knew that Ray Emery would start out so well for the Flyers?
I can't like the Flyers. Not with that bag of crap Pronger playing on their team.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I know what you're talking about, Keith....;-)
ReplyDeleteYou know JFein. Pronger is worse than Vick, he eats puppies.
ReplyDeleteGOALLLLLLLLLL
ReplyDelete4-0 SHARKS
OU is at the Miami 20 yard line.
ReplyDelete21-20 Canes.
ReplyDeleteJAMES!!!! YOU ARE QUICKLY TURNING INTO MY HERO!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWHAT A CALL ON 3RD AND 6!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteMIAMI WINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Miami.
ReplyDeleteThis Sharks-Ducks game is awesome. Also the Ducks are still have a team full of goons.
One of Oklahoma's coaches (not Stoops) just shot a look of how dare this happen.
ReplyDeleteOklahoma lost to Miami....HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
SUCK ON THAT, STOOPS!!!
/Not an Oklahoma or Bob Stoops fan.
"A pile of humanity in front of the net."-Randy Hahn
ReplyDeleteDid I mention that I miss Hahn and Drew Remenda?
See you guys for tomorrow's NFL live blog.
