Foul Ball: Penny, Nathan, Oh My

4 San Francisco 0 Philadelphia: Calll this the payback game for Cliff Lee's first start with the Phillies. Brad Penny, who was making his debut for the Giants, pitched eight shutout innings giving up only five hits. Some how Juan Uribe and Aaron Rowand hit back-to-back home runs in the game. Something that never happens for the Giants. I would watch today's Phillies-Giants game as Tim Lincecum and Pedro Martinez will be facing off against each other. The game will be on MLB Network tonight.

4 Chicago 2 Minnesota: I was watching this game on WGNA and couldn't believe what I was watching. With the Twins up 2-0 in the ninth inning with two outs and Joe Nathan pitching, the Gordon Beckham and Paul Konerko hit back-to-back home runs to tie the game. Then Alexi Ramirez drove in the winning run, with Carlos Quintin scoring the dagger run off of a wild pitch. Nathan has blown five saves this season.

4 Detroit 2 Cleveland: Rick Porcello went seven innings giving up five hits, two runs, and one strikeout to pickup the victory for the Tigers. Of course Fernando Rodney had to do his high wire act by allowing a hit and a walk before finally picking up the save. Magglio Ordonez had a good game going 3 for 4 with one RBI.

3 Seattle 0 Anaheim: King Felix went eight scoreless innings giving up only four hits and six strikeouts. Hernandez ruined the debut of new Angels pitcher Scott Kazmir who went 6 1/3 innings giving up three hits, two runs, and eight strikeouts. Adrian Beltre was finally activated off of the DL after taking a ground ball to the nuts. And yes he was wearing a cup in the game.

8 Tampa Bay 5 Boston: The Rays narrowly avoid disaster against the Red Sox when Pat Burrell drove in the winning run in the eighth inning. That was fallowed by a Evan Longoria two-run home run to give the Rays a three-run win. Josh Beckett has struggled lately. Against the Rays, Beckett gave up seven hits and five runs in six innings.

4 Arizona 1 Los Angeles: The Diamondbacks scored all four runs in the fifth inning against Chad Billingsley. Brandon Allen hit a two-run home run fallowed by a Stephen Drew and Gerardo Parra RBI's.
