Foul Ball: A Night of Streaks

Foul Ball is your daily baseball recap

8 Marlins 6 Astros: The Phillies better watch out, because the fish are just 3.5 games behind them in the NL East. After sweeping the Phillies in Philadelphia and beating Houston, the Marlins have now won four in a row. Five different Marlins players drove in runs, including two RBI's from catcher John Baker.

5 Blue Jays 4 Yankees: Toronto was finally able to break the Yankees seven game winning streak. Aaron Hill and Lyle Overbay both hit solo home runs as the Blue Jays bullpen was able to go 5 2/3 innings to shut down the Yankees. The Yankees hit into two double plays and committed an error in the game. Now we just have to wait for A-Rod to make a rendezvous with that stripper.

6 Red Sox 5 Tigers: In the night of streaks, the Red Sox broke their six game losing streak. Three different Red Sox hitters hit home runs in the game including a two-run homer by Dustin Pedrioa. Tigers pitcher Edwin Jackson only went four innings giving up nine hits, four runs, two home runs, and three strikeouts. The d-bag picked up his 28th save.

11 Rockies 5 Cubs: Does the Rockies ever lose? I swear they don't. Troy Tulowitzki went 5 for 5, drove in seven runs and hit for the cycle. The Cubs made the game interesting in the ninth inning by scoring four runs off of Houston Street. But Joe Biemel saved the day for Street and the Cubs.

8 Angels 7 Rays: Vlad Guerrero hit two home runs including his 400th career home run. Vlad's 400th career home run was also the game winning home run for the Angels. I miss Vlad's dreads. Also Kendry Morales also homered twice for the Angels in the game. In total there was six homers hit in the game.

4 Dodgers 2 Giants: I hate the Dodgers. I hate Manny Ramirez and his dreadlocks. I hate Joe Torre. I hate Vin Scully. I hate everything about this team.

6 Mariners 4 White Sox: Kenji Johjima hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning to break a tie and give Seattle their fifth win in seven games. Seattle is only 4 1/2 games behind the Red Sox in the AL Wild Card Standings. The great Luke French picked up the no-decision for the Mariners.

  1. I'm currently working on the Patriots preview right now. Sorry it's been taking so long, but I've running around all over the place today.
