Foul Ball: Hanson!, Giants!, and Coffee is for Closers

Foul Ball is your daily baseball recap

9 Braves 4 Diamondbacks: Tommy Hanson was strong against the Diamondbacks going six innings giving up six hits, two runs, and seven strikeouts. Garrett Anderson and Adam LaRoche both homered for the Braves in the game. The Braves even committed two errors in the game. The Braves placed Nate McLouth on the DL before the game.

10 Giants 1 Mets: Hey! the Giants actually scored more than three runs. Hey! the Giants actually had more than seven hits. Hey! Joe Martinez picked up the win and his sister is good looking. Hey! Did you know Joe Martinez is from New Jersey and that he took a baseball off the side of his head? Hey! Aaron Rowand actually didn't suck. Hey!

Rant of the Day(excuse the foul language): Dear Bruce Bochy, this is Keith here. I'm a longtime Giants fan and I have a bone to pick with you. Why the fuck don't you start Nate Schierholtz everyday? Why the fuck do you insist in starting old as fuck Randy Winn? Winn can't hit anymore from either side of the fucking plate! Schierholtz right now is a better hitter and fielder. Schierholtz has a cannon as an arm and he gives this team some fucking speed around the basepaths. You know what speed is, Bruce? No, speed isn't fat ass Bengie Molina trying to hobble his fat ass around the bases. Speed is what Nate Schierholtz has. Remember Nate Schierholtz? He's the guy that played in the Olympics last year and knocked out the Chinese catcher. He's better than both Winn, Aaron Rowand, and Fred Lewis. He should be playing every fucking day! Now carry on with your day.

And now back to Foul Ball

8 Angels 5 Orioles: is it just me, or does it always seem like the Angels are always playing some soft ass team like Baltimore? Vlad Guerrero homered twice to go along with home runs from Kendry Morales and Maicer Izturis to help the Angels win. The Angels even were thrown out on the base paths and even committed three double plays. The Angels offense is just that good.

4 Padres 1 Cubs: The Cubs are like the Giants. If they want to compete for a playoff spot, they have to save games. Well, Kelly Gregg couldn't hold onto the lead last night. Holding onto a 1-0 lead until Gregg allowed the Padres to tie the game in the ninth. Then Gregg gave up the game-winning three-run home run to Kyle Blanks. Needless to say Gregg has been demoted as the closer.

Remember, coffee is for closers.

3 Cardinals 2 Dodgers: Rick Ankiel hit a two run home run in the seventh, while Chris Carpenter only allowed two runs off of five hits in eight innings. Also that dirtbag Russell Martin committed an error in the game. So I would like to say, Suck It Marting!

3 A's 0 Yankees: The New York freaking Yankees were shut out for only the fourth time this season. And the person who shut them out was Brett freaking Tomko. Tomko went five innings giving up no runs and five hits. One think I do miss about Tomko not being with the Giants, is his good looking wife.

  2. I never thought a Cubs closer could be worse than LaTroy Hawkins. Never say never...

  3. Please don't bring up LaTroy Hawkins. I have too many bad memories of him and his time with the Giants.

Good thing Jerome Williams never amounted to much in Chicago, or Brian Sabean would be killed for that trade along with the Nathan, Lirano trade.
