Foul Ball: Colorado Never Loses, Jamie Moyer is Still Alive!

Foul Ball is your daily baseball recap

4 Colorado 3 Washington: Will Colorado ever lose? I swear they find some way to win every single game. This time leadoff hitter Carlos Gonzalez hit a tie-breaking home run in the eighth inning to beat the Natinals. This was the third straight game that Gonzalez has homered in. Colorado stays one game and a half ahead of the Giants in the NL Wild Card.

5 Phillies 1 Diamondbacks: What do you know? Jamie Moyer still exists. I'm sure though he wasn't happy coming into the game as a relief pitcher for the guy(Pedro Martinez) who replaced him in the rotation. Moyer pitched six scoreless innings of relief for Martinez, who was taken out of the game after three innings. The game was delayed by rain, so the Phillies just wanted to ease Martinez in their rotation and took him out early.

8 San Francisco 5 Cincinnati in 10: Tim Lincecum struggled in this game giving up five runs. But the Giants hitters actually rallied from a 4-1 deficit to tie the game. Ryan Garko drove in four runs in the game, including the two game-tying runs. And I was starting to lose faith in Garko, but once again I believe.

5 Tampa Bay 4 Baltimore: Gabe Gross hit a two-run home run and Patty Burrell and B.J. Upton added solo home runs for Tampa Bay. Tampa obviously won the game because manager Joe Maddon colored his hair black. You know Lou Pinella once did the same thing.

5 Detroit 3 Seattle: Miguel Cabrera hit a go-ahead two-run single in the eighth inning and Rick Porcello struck out a career high eight batters. Once Seattle took out Felix Hernandez in the seventh inning, Detroit took advantage. Alex Avila homered and Cabrera hit the double to give Detroit the lead and the win. Fernando Rodney did his typical high-wire act in the ninth inning. Rodney gave up two hits, but was able to pull through and pick up the save.

9 Minnesota 6 Texas: The Twins rallied from a 5-0 deficit to beat Texas. Joe Mauer is a freak and homered twice in the game. Delmon Young tied the game with a two-run double and then he hit the go-ahead two-run home run. The entire night was not all successful for Joe Mauer. Mauer allowed three stolen bases by Rangers player Julio Borbon.

6 San Diego 3 Chicago: Kyle Blanks hit a two-run inside the park home run to help rookie Cesar Carrillo pick up his first win of his career. It's too bad the Cubs are struggling this season, because Derek Lee is having one hell of a season. Lee is batting .295 with 24 home runs, 82 RBI, and 63 runs. Lee homered last night against the Padres.
