Foul Ball: Almost a No-No, Damn You Phillies

Foul Ball is your daily baseball recap

6 Diamondbacks 0 Pirates: Too bad Arizona is out of the playoff picture because they are finally playing like the team that was favorited to win the NL Wild Card. Some guy named Yusmeiro Petit took a no-hitter into the eighth ininning. Petite ending up giving up just one hit in the game. Ryan Roberts hit two home runs in the game for Arizona.

5 Yankees 3 Blue Jays: Even though Roy Halladay pitched the complete game, he still lost his second straight decision. Halladay gave up 10 hits, five runs, and three home runs. Leigh Texeira's husband, Hediki Matsui, and Johnny Damon all homered in the game for the Yankees. Toronto didn't help Halladay out at all, by leaving eight men on base in the game.

8 Rockies 3 Phillies: Damn you Phillies. First you blame the ballpark for your loses in San Francisco and now you can't do the Giants a favor and beat Colorado. I swear it's 2007 again and the Rockies will never lose another game. The Rockies pounded old man Jamie Moyer for six hits and six runs in five innings. Plus Philadelphia left seven men on base during the game.

10 Twins 1 Indians: There's the Triple-A team we'd expected from the Indians. The Indians pitching staff combined to give up 16 hits and 10 runs to Minnesota. Six different Twins players drove in runs during the game, including four by Carlos Gomez. Scott Baker picked up the victory for the Twins.

4 Rays 2 Red Sox in 13: Evan Longoria may have struck out four times against the Red Sox, but he hit two home runs. Including the game-winning home run in the 13Th inning. The Rays relievers shut down Boston in five innings holding the Red Sox to four hits and no runs.

8 Giants 1 Astros: Freddy Sanchez and Pablo Sandoval hit back-to-back home runs in the sixth inning to help the Giants finally break through. Jonathon Sanchez pitched his most impressive game of the year since his no-hitter going seven innings allowing no runs and four hits. Gorak continued his hot streak going 3 for 6 and one RBI.

12 Cardinals 7 Mets in 10: There was no celebrating for Francisco Rodriguez on Tuesday night. K-Rod gave up two runs and blew the save for the Mets. Then in the tenth inning, Albert Pujols hit a game-winning grand slam. Also count this as it could only happen to the Mets. Mets 2Nd baseman Luis Castillo slipped on the dugout steps and sprained his ankle.

Update!: Since I aim to please, kt1000 asked how could I forget about Brian Matusz's debut? So this next recap is for kt1000. The Orioles beat Detroit last night behind Matusz's pitching debut. Matusz went five innings giving up one run, six hits, and five strikeouts against Detroit. That is Matusz's first career major league win. Congrats kid.

Create a Caption: There was a Pedro sighting last night in Philadelphia.
