Foul Ball: Perfection!

Foul Ball is your daily baseball recap

5 White Sox 0 Rays: Mark Buehrle has made a habit out of throwing great games. Two years after throwing a no-hitter, Buehrle pitches a perfect game against the Tampa Bay Rays. Dwayne Wise helped Buehrle greatly though in the ninth inning. Wise came into the game as a defensive replacement and made a perfect game saving catch(video below). This is the first perfect game in five years and the 17th in history.

Mark Buehrle Quote, from the AP: “I bought everyone watches after the last one. That was an expensive no-hitter,” he said. “This one will probably be more expensive.” He at least owes Wise a nice steak dinner.

5 Giants 1 Braves: Hey the Giants won! Hey Barry Zito didn't suck! Hey the Giants actually scored some runs! Where's the trade for a bat though?

5 Indians 4 Blue Jays: David Huff went 7 2/3 innings giving up four runs and eight hits to help Cleveland pick up the victory. Shin-Soo Choo tripled in two runs and didn't hit a seagull. Three other Indians players drove in runs in the game as Kerry Wood picked up his 13th save of the season.

9 Phillies 4 Padres: Every Phillies player had a hit in the game, except Pert Plus. Hamels went seven innings giving up four hits and three runs. The Padres committed two errors in the game and only picked up three walks. And yes they are that bad.

2 Mariners 1 Tigers: Jarrod Washburn went seven innings giving up no runs and two hits to help the Mariners take two out of three games in Detroit. Wladimir Balentien and Mike Sweeney drove in the two runs the Mariners needed to pick up the victory. With Detroit's loss and Chicago's win, both teams are tied for first place in the AL Central.

4 Cardinals 1 Nationals in 7: The Natinals are so bad, that the umpires called the game during the seventh inning. Adam Wainwright picked up the win and Rick Ankiel homered.

  1. With the way the Tigers are strugg-ga-ling on offense, I wouldn't be surprised if the Good Guys got back-to-back no-nos during today's doubleheader.

Bartolo Colon is pitching the nightcap? Well, just one no-hitter, then...

  2. Same with the Giants, RJBO. Plus the fact that Brian Sabean refuses to trade for a bat. It's like they are telling the fans that they don't care about this season. Even though they have a once in a lifetime type of pitching staff.

  3. If it means the Tigers trading for a bat, I'll actually go to Little Caesar's and buy one of those $5 Hot-N-Ready Corrugated Cardboard Boxes with Cheese they call Pizza.
