Foul Ball: Indians and Natinals Still Suck Going Into the All-Star Break

Foul Ball is your daily baseball recap

Well the first half of the season is finally over. We head into the All-Star break in St. Louis. I will post later in the day the Baseball Update looking at the first half of the baseball season.

10 Tigers 1 Indians: If you beat the Cleveland Indians, does it count? Well the Tigers thrashed the Indians and are leading the AL Central by 3 games. Justin Verlander struck out eight, and Brandon Inge homered twice in the game. Inge and Clete Thomas combined for eight RBI's in the game.

Eric Wedge Quote: From the AP, “It’s been a disappointment,” Cleveland manager Eric Wedge said. “There’s a long way to go, and I still feel good about the lineup we are putting out there every day, but we’ve got to improve the rotation and our bullpen.” How he hasn't been fired yet, is beyond me.

13 Twins 7 White Sox: Carlos Gomez, Brendan Harris, and Denard Span each homered against White Sox ace Mark Buehrle. Gomez drove in five runs during the game. Scott Baker picked up the win for Minnesota. Gordan Beckman went Emilio in the game by committing two gut wrenching errors in the game.

5 Astros 0 Nationals: How's this for a box score. The Nationals had 0 runs, 11 hits, and 1 error in a loss to the Astros. If you have 11 hits in a game and you can't score, then you suck. The Natinals are a paltry 26-61 this season. I think they could make a run at the 62 Mets.

9 Mets 7 Reds: The Mets are Alive! They had a complete opposite game than the Natinals. The Mets scored nine runs, 16 hits, and zero errors. The Mets who have had struggles at the plate this year, finally broke through against the Reds on Sunday. Mike Pelfrey picked up the win for the Mets despite giving up five hits and three runs.

6 Red Sox 0 Royals: Josh Beckett picked up his 100th career win against the Royals. Beckett still has horrible facial hair.

5 Yankees 4 Angels: The way the Yankees dominate the Twins, is the same way the Angels dominate the Yankees. Five different Angels players drove in runs during the game. John Lackey went seven innings giving up six hits and two runs. Lackey was helped out by the three double plays the Yankees hit into.

Joe Girardi Quote: From the AP, “We don’t like it, but we can’t let this carry into Friday. We have four days off, we have a chance to regroup,” Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. Girardi was talking about the Yankees 5-15 record this year against the Angels, Red Sox, Tigers, and Phillies, all first-place teams.

7 Cubs 3 Cardinals, Game 1: All you need to know is Carlos Zambrano hit his third home run of the season. If he played for the Giants, he would be their cleanup hitter. At least the water cooler was safe yesterday from Zambrano.

8 Rockies 7 Braves: Colorado never loses. And on Sunday Brad Hawpe hit a game-winning RBI double to cap off a Colorado comeback. At least Matt Vasgersian wasn't around to offend somebody. Colorado has gone 6-4 in their last ten games and are 47-41 going into the All-Star break.

Video of the Day: Going back to the days of Albert Belle in Baltimore. Albert fouled a ball off that hit the Angels bat boy right in the head.
