Foul Ball: Hawk!

Foul Ball is your daily baseball recap

3 Rays 2 White Sox: Right now MLB Extra Innings is giving a free preview to all of the games in the major leagues. Any baseball geek is excited because they can watch any game for free. Well for some reason I decided to watch the Rays-White Sox game last night. And I am glad I started watching that game, because of an conversation between White Sox announcers Ken Harrelson and Steve Stone.

Stone was talking about blogs on the CSN Chicago website, when himself and Harrelson had this little conversation.

Harrelson: "How do you access a blog?"

Stone: "Well you get on the computer, access the Internet and click on the blog."

This conversation alone made me ponder about buying the MLB Extra Innings package. I feel like I shouldn't miss a single White Sox game from here till the day Hawk retires. Oh and the fact that Hawk Harrelson has his own theme song.

4 Nationals 0 Mets: With the return of Oliver Perez could only mean one thing. More Mets loses. And to add salt to their wounds, they lost to a Nationals team that picked up their first win of the 2nd half. The Nationals only had four hits in the game, but Perez walked six batters which lead to the four runs the Nationals scored. Nationals pitcher John Lannan pitched a complete game shutout.

2 Brewers 0 Pirates: Prince Fielder hit two two-out singles to drive in both of the runs in the game. Prince then immediately celebrated by eating donuts. Braden Looper won his fourth consecutive game, going seven innings giving up no runs and four hits.

9 Tigers 7 Mariners: Three different Tigers hitters hit home runs against Seattle. Even Magglio Ordonez hit a home run, only his fifth of the season. Rick Porcello picked up the win despite giving up nine hits and five runs. The Tigers put Joel Zumaya on the DL for Guitar Hero shoulder.

2 Indians 1 Blue Jays: Hey! The Indians won and in the process made Jay Crawford happy. Victor Martinez double in the ninth inning driving in the game-winning runs. Cliff Lee pitched a complete game giving up one run and seven hits. Lee's name has been circulating lately in trade rumors, and the next one is that the Boston Red Sox have said to be interested in him.

4 Rangers 2 Red Sox: Time to hit the panic button in Boston. The Red Sox are in 2nd place behind the Yankees! The Rangers beat Josh Beckett and the Red Sox behind two Hank Blalock RBI's. Rangers rookie pitcher went six innings giving up four hits and one run.

4 Phillies 1 Cubs in 13: It might be time for Jeff Samardzija to go back to Norte Dame. In the 13th inning Samardzija was able to retire the first two batters of the inning. Then he walked Ryan Howard and Jigsaw. Then sure enough he gave up a game-winning three-run home run to Jayson Werth. The red hot Jimmy Rollins also homered in the game.

11 Astros 6 Cardinals: Three different Astro players homered in the game and Carlos Lee hit a grand slam for the Astros win. It was a good thing the Astros scored so many runs in the game, because the Astro bullpen almost blew the game. The Cardinals scored five runs in the eighth inning, but that wasn't enough to beat the Astros.

  2. I feel like I shouldn't miss a single White Sox game from here till the day Hawk retires.

WGN America has 30 'Good Guys' games every season; that's just about enough. I don't think I could "sit back, relax and strap it down" for 162 games of Hawk Harrelson (not because I'm a Cub fan, either). It's his heavy shtick (The 'Picks to Click', 'You can put it on the BOOOOOOAAARRRDDD! YES!'; 'He Gone!'; 'Can of corn' among others).

  3. That was one thing I noticed last night RJBO. Hawk uses a lot of shtick. A lot of the phrases in your comment, he used last night.

I thought Mike Krukow was bad with it. But just from last night, I was quickly tired of Hawk.

On behalf of Phillies fans (and for that matter, everyone who just hates the Mets), PLEASE FIX THAT TYPO!!!!!!!!!

Caption: He is either throwing a baseball or holding in a shit. I'm thinking the latter.
