Foul Ball: Giants Suck and the Phillies Are On a Role

Foul Ball is your daily baseball recap

11 Braves 3 Giants: Well that sucked. If only the Giants could play all their games at home, because they stink on the road. In his first start since throwing a no-hitter, Jonathon Sanchez looked like the pitcher the Giants sent to the bullpen about a month ago. Sanchez gave up four hits, three runs and two home runs. Braves pitcher Tommy Hansen struck out 11 Giants, which really isn't an accomplishment.

6 Mets 2 Nationals: What is one way for a struggling team to get back on track? That's right play the Natinals. Jeff Francoer hit his first home run as a Met and drove in two runs in the game. Agless wonder Livan Hernandez went seven innings allowing five hits and two runs.

10 Phillies 1 Cubs: The Phillies raped the Cubs for 10 runs and nine hits. Jigsaw hit a three-run home run in the game, to go along with Ryan Howard's home run. The Cubs showed their true futility by committing two errors in the game.

2 Yankees 1 Orioles: Hedeki Matsui hit a game-winning home run off of Orioles reliever Jim Johnson. Then he was immediately chased off of the New York streets by Godzilla.

3 Astros 2 Cardinals: Carlos Lee hit a three-run home run off of Hamilton City native Kyle Lohse to give the Astros the win. Yadier Molina played like his big brother Bengie in the game by hitting into two double plays, including one in the eighth inning with two men on base and the Cardinals down by one run.

7 Dodgers 5 Reds: I can't stand the Dodgers, but I am happy to see the return of Jason Schmidt from injury. Schmidt hasn't appeared in a game since 2007. The former Giant pitcher went five innings gving up five hits and three runs to pick up the victory.

14 A's 13 Twins: Oakland was able to come back from an 8-2 deficit and comeback to beat the Twins. Matt Holliday hit two home runs in the game including a Grand Slam. Michael Cuddyer was thrown out at home plate for the tying run, but it was very apparent that he was safe. It was the biggest comeback in A's history.

  1. The Giants need a bat, badly!

  2. I like this Free Preview of MLB Extra Innings (not just for the Dodgers home games w/ Vin Scully). Too bad I dozed off right before Holliday hit the Grand Slam and woke up five minutes after the A's won.

  3. @RJBO I love the free preview of MLB Extra Innings. I watched the Cubs-Phillies game yesterday and I found out just how awful Michael Kay is on the Yes Network.
