Foul Ball: Baseball Returns!

Foul Ball is your daily baseball recap

Well the All-Star break is over and we head into the second half of the season. Here are the standings heading into the 2nd half of the year. And if you noticed, the majority of teams only have about 75 games left in the season. Pretty soon it will be the stretch run and also it will be September call-up time. I love the September call-ups. It gives you a chance to look at your future prospects. I remember last year when the Giants called up Pablo Sandoval. He it up every game he played in last September. I remember thinking that the Giants had someone special in Sandoval during that time. And look almost a year later, Sandoval has turned into one of the best players in the league. Anyways, here's the recap of last nights action.

6 Cubs 2 Nationals: It may be the 2nd half of the season, but the Washington Natinals still suck. Jim Riggleman debut as the new Nationals coach, but that didn't matter. Derek Lee homered and Ryan Theriot drove in two runs for the Cubs. Rich Harden went six innings giving up three hits and one run to the pitiful Nationals.

4 Indians 1 Mariners: Cliff Lee hadn't won a game going on a month until last night. Lee took a no-hitter into the eighth inning before having it broken up. In total Lee pitched a complete game giving up nine hits and one run. Three errors by the Mariners helped the Indians score in the game. Four different Indians players drove in runs during the game.

5 Braves 3 Mets: Not even the All-Star break can heal all the wombs to the Mets. Their bullpen blew the game in the seventh inning when Larry Jones drove in the winning run for the Braves. Also Larry has become quite the Emilio this season. He committed his 14th error of the year in the game.

9 Brewers 6 Reds: The home run derby didn't affect Prince Fielder at all. Fielder hit a three-run homer for the Brewers. And the Brewers added another five runs in the sixth inning. Colossal disappointment Homer Bailey gave up six hits and seven runs to the Brewers in the game. And Bailey was suppose to be Cincinnati's savior? Trevor Hoffman was able to pick up his 21st save of the season in the game.

4 Phillies 0 Marlins: That old bastard Jamie Moyer looked really sharp for the Phillies last night. Moyer only allowed one hit to the Marlins in seven innings. Moyer has won every game that he has pitched against the mammals in Miami. Ryan Howard hit his 200th career home run in the game. Also Roid Ibanez added two home runs. Ibanez is still one of the ugliest people I have ever seen. He's right up there with rectum face.

10 Rockies 1 Padres: Colorado keeps winning and San Diego keeps losing. Clint Barmas and Seth Smith homered for the Rockies in the game. Aaron Cook picked up the win going six innings and only giving up eight hits and one run. Manny Corpas also returned for Colorado. The Friars committed two errors in the game.

3 Astros 0 Dodgers: This really pisses me off. When Barry Bonds played at Dodger Stadium the fucking LA fans threw syringes at the guy. But when their own little roid freak comes back from suspension, they cheer him like he is the second coming. Hypocritical Dodger fans for you. It didn't matter though as Man-Ram went 1 for 4 with two strikeouts.
