Foul Ball: The Big Unit Makes History!

Foul Ball is your daily baseball recap

5 Giants 1 Nationals: The Big Unit became the 24th pitcher in Major League Baseball to record his 300th victory. The Unit allowed two hits and one run in over six innings. He also became the second oldest pitcher to reach that milestone. Brian Wilson picked up his 13th save of the season as the Giants took the first game of the doubleheader. Now only if he would grow back that mullet.

11 Pirates 6 Mets: Boy was I wrong about the Mets. I thought they would go to Pittsburgh, sweep the Pirates and either extend their lead in the division or stay right there with the Phillies. That's why I no longer make predictions or bet money on any sport. They were swept by the Pirates. Jason Jaramillo drove in a career high 4-RBI's for the Pirates. I never making another prediction again. They are sure to go wrong.

7 A's 0 White Sox: Jason Giambi homered and so did Aaron Cunningham. For Cunningham that was his first career home run. Brett Anderson went seven innings for the A's giving up five hits and no runs. The White Sox fell to .500 at home. Also top prospect Gordon Beckham made his major league debut for the White Sox going 0-for-3.

Mt. Ozzie Quote: Mt. Ozzie didn't give much love to Beckman for his first game. From the AP: “Really bad,” Guillen said. “He struck out, what am I going to say? He was good? That kid’s going to be all right. … He’s just another player. He had a bad day, just like everyone else.” Get used to this Gordon. Mt. Ozzie will erupt anytime, anywhere, throwing anybody under the bus.

3 Rays 2 Royals: Nothing is going right for the Royals right now. Not only do they continue to slip down the standings in the weak AL Central, but the team was swept by the Rays. B.J. Upton hit a game-winning two-run home run in the eighth inning for the Rays. James Shields picked up the victory by going eight innings giving up six hits and two runs.

6 Red Sox 3 Tigers: I bet the Tigers can't wait to see the Red Sox leave Detroit. They were swept in a bad fashion by the Red Sox. In this game, the Tigers were baffled by knuckleballer Tim Wakefield. The old man gave up three runs and eight hits in 6 2/3 innings. Dontrel Willis took a step back in his comeback from control problems. Willis gave up five runs in 2 1/3 innings despite not giving up a hit. He walked five hitters and hit one with a pitch.

3 Phillies 0 Dodgers: Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha, now where's Cole Hamels wife?

Create a Caption: Leigh Teixeira's husband giving some man love.

Video of the Day: Here is the end of the Giants-Nationals game, where the Big Unit picks up his 300th win.

  2. Once again, congrats to Randy Johnson!

And to top off the night, not only did your Giants win twice, but Cole Hamels threw a complete game shutout against the Dodgers.

And aspeaking of Cole Hamels' wife, Heidi, have you ever seen this video? Better yet, I wonder if Cole has ever gotten his hands on the unedited tapes? ;-)
