Foul Ball: Zambrano Has a Meltdown

Foul Ball is your daily baseball recap

5 Cubs 2 Pirates: Cubs won the game, but that isn't the point of talking about this game. Carlos Zambrano went crazy in this game. After making a tag at home the runner was called safe, which made Zambrano erupt. Here's a photo easy of Zambrano's meltdown. Video at the bottom!

Zambrano then started pointing at the ump with the ball still in his hand.

Now here is the screen shot of Zambrano giving the heeve-ho

Zambrano eventually left the field throwing the ball out to left field. But wait he wasn't done! He then took out his frustration out on the Gatorade cooler.

Never fear though, the cooler was alright.

12 Orioles 10 Blue Jays in 11: Well the Blue Jays are just giving up wins now. After Roy Halladay threw another gem, the Blue Jays bullpen gave it all back. When Halladay left after the seventh inning the score was 8-3. The Orioles rallied to score five runs in the eighth inning to tie the game. Then Blue Jays 2nd baseman untied the game in the 11th with a two-run home run. Only to see reliever Brian Wolfe give up a game-winning three-run home to Nolan Reimold. The Blue Jays have now lost nine straight games.

Cito Gasten Quote: From the AP: “This is one we had a chance to win. We were leading. So this is about the worst lost we had on this trip,” Toronto manager Cito Gaston said. “We’re leading, we have Doc on the mound and we had a five-run lead. You’re supposed to win those kind of games.” So bad it makes you want to cry?

8 Tigers 3 Royals: The Tigers keep winning while the Royals continue to slump. And good for the Tigers is the emergence of pitcher Rick Porcello. After a shaky start to his career, Porcello has won five straight games. Placido Polanco homered and drove in three runs for the Tigers.

Marlboro Man Quote: From the AP: “He’s been watching film, watching tape of the hitters,” manager Jim Leyland said. “He does his homework. He wants to learn, and that’s always a good sign.” Talking about the emergence of Rick Porcello.

6 Giants 3 Braves: Randy Johnson is now one victory away from 300, as the Giants swept the Atlanta Braves. The smartest move the Giants have made is moving Aaron Rowand into the leadoff spot. He is one a 8-game hitting streak including last night when he hit two doubles and drove in two runs.
