Foul Ball: Weekend Observations

Thanks to JFein for covering for me while I was away. Now let's take a look at what happened around Major League Baseball.

JFein e-mailed me these three videos over the weekend.

Dennis Eckersly had himself a broadcast. Not only did he cuss on air, he even threw in some sexual innuendo for seasoning.

Take the rest of the week off Eck.

Then Fox had their own little screwup over the weekend. John Mayberry hit his first career home run for the Philadelphia Phillies. Fox then showed who they believed was Mayberry's father. Only one problem, the man they showed wasn't Mayberry's father.

Other Observations:
-The Giants had themselves quite a road trip. In six games, they won one game and that was against Seattle. Sigh.........

- In the battle of D-bags, Brett Myers prevailed over A.J. Burnett. Maybe they could start a bromance?

- The Toronto Blue Jays have fallen apart. They have lost seven in a row and are now one game behind the Red Sox and a half a game behind the Yankees. See what happens when a team starts the season with an easy schedule.

- The AL Central still stinks. Detroit has lost two in a row and are still three games ahead of Kansas City for the division lead.

- The Phillies regained the lead in the AL East after they went 8-2 in their last ten games. Also the Mets going 5-5 in their last ten games help.

- The hottest team in baseball right now is the San Diego Padres. They have won nine in a row and are now in second place in the NL West. Sigh. I guess they better hold onto Jake Peavy for now.

Be back tomorrow full-time with all the regular features.
