Foul Ball: Rain, Rain, Rain

Foul Ball is your daily baseball recap

6 Red Sox 4 Yankees:
Once again the bandbox in the Bronx unleashed it's furry. There was five home runs hit including three by the Yankees, but the Bronx Bombers still lost the game. The Yankees are still winless against Red Sox this year, and I am sure they were hoping the game would be postponed by rain. Jon Lester matched a career high with 10 strikeouts, as he picked up the win for Boston.

3 Royals 0 White Sox:
Once again Zach Greinke pitched another gem. He pitched a complete game shutout, allowing six hits, no walks, and 10 strikeouts. Greinke improves his record to 6-0 and his ERA is only 0.40.

6 Rangers 5 Mariners:
Rangers hitter Chris Davis hit a tiebreaking two-run home run off Seattle pitcher Felix Hernandez in the sixth inning. Michael Young also hit a two-run home run off Hernandez. Rangers pitcher Kevin Milwood pitched 7 1-3 innings allowing eight hits and five runs to improve his record to 3-2.

7 Brewers 4 Pirates:
The Pirates might not ever want to play Milwaukee ever again. They lost their 16Th consecutive game in a row to the Brewers. Rickie Weeks hit a tiebreaking three-run home run in the ninth inning to help the Brewers beat the Pirates. This is the second longest winning streak a team has had over another team.

Worst of the Night:

Coors Field East allowed five home runs and once again prevented the Yankees from picking up the win.

Despite picking up the win, the Twins hit into two double plays.

Toronto left 13 men on base in their loss to Cleveland.

Rays pitcher Scott Kazmir pitched in 6 1-3 innings giving up seven hits and six runs in a loss.

A's slugger Matt Holliday went 0 for 4 against the Angels. He extended his streak to 6 for 39. I guess he is a product of Coors Field.

The Giants were once again able to reach base, but they couldn't score. And since they faced a team that can actually hit in the Cubs, they lost.

The Pirates blew a two run lead in the ninth inning, in a loss to Milwaukee.

Houston had a bad night losing to the Natinals.

The Braves left six men on base and hit into one double play in their loss to the Mets.

Even though Florida won, it took them 14 innings to beat Cincinnati. Dusty Baker'd!

St. Louis left 10 men on base in their loss to Philadelphia.

Update! Ozzie Guillen Quote:
Here's Ozzie's quote about Royals pitcher Zach Greinke, “He’s the best in the league right now.” No kidding Ozzie.

Bruce Bochy Quote:
From the AP. “We’ve got to get runs. The last couple games we’ve struggled to get runs,” he said. “The pitching has been fine. Now it’s time to get some runs on the board. That’s what has to happen.” Good luck, Bruce. If the Giants score more than three runs in a game, then they are lucky.

Picture of the Night:
Where's that golden thong, Giambi?

1 comment:

  1. The A's powerful lineup, sure has been disapointing.
