Foul Ball is your daily baseball recap
I can't believe there was only four games in baseball yesterday. Whoever makes the schedules in baseball should be fired. Too many divisional games are played. And there is too many days when there isn't a lot of baseball games on. And we need more day baseball games. That's my short rant of the day.
9 Indians 4 White Sox: We had a Carl Pavano sighting yesterday, and it was a good one. Pavano pitched in 6 1/3 innings allowed four runs, 10 hits, and no walks to pick up the victory for the Indians. Shin-Soo Chin and Johnny Peralta each drove in three runs for the Indians. Even though the Indians won, they still left nine men on base.

Ozzie Guillen Quote: From the AP: “In the big leagues, if you don’t throw a strike, I don’t care how good you are, you’re going to get killed,” White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen said. “He couldn’t throw his curve for strikes because he couldn’t throw his fastball for strikes. You have to command your fastball to make the other pitches work.” Ozzie is a quote machine.
8 Braves 3 Mets: Johan Santana went 6 1/3 innings giving up seven hits and two runs. The only problem of the game, the Mets hitters couldn't produce any run support for Santana. This game shouldn't had a winner, because both teams struggled hitting. The Mets hit into three double plays. And the Braves left 11 men on base. How do you justify a winner in this game? Derek Lowe picked up the victory for the Braves.

13 Reds 5 Diamondbacks: Willie Taveras had five hits and two RBI's for the Reds, who didn't look sluggish after playing a 10 inning game on Sunday then flying out to the west coast. The Reds set a season high with runs and hits (18). Bronson Arroyo allowed five runs in seven innings of work for the Reds. Justin Upton, Mark Reynolds, and Felipe Lopez each had home runs for Arizona in the loss.

11 Giants 7 Nationals: Ryan Zimmerman continued his hit streak going 4-for-5 with two home runs, but it wasn't enough as the Giants won. Randy Johnson picked up his 298th win of his career. Interesting moment in the fifth inning opened up the flood gates for the Giants. With two men on base and two outs, Nats outfielder Josh Willingham completely whiffed on a routine pop fly and the two runners scored. Nats pitcher Daniel Cabrera couldn't keep his composer and walked in three runs.
