Foul Ball: The Giants Actually Scored More Than 3 Runs!

Foul Ball is your daily baseball recap

The Nationals-Houston game was rained out in the tenth inning with the game tied at 10. They will make up the game in Houston with Washington acting as the home team. How Bud Selig and Natinals of them.

6 Giants 2 Cubs: Bengie Molina came up big in the first inning for the Giants by hitting a three-run home run. I will give the Cubs this though, their lineup wouldn't exactly scare the crap out of anyone. Because of injuries, the Cubs played six players who as recently as 2007 played in the minors. With the Cubs within one run in the eighth inning, Aaron Rowand knocked in two runs with a double. In all Lincecum went seven innings giving up two runs, eight hits, and seven strikeouts.

7 Rangers 2 Mariners in 10: The Rangers are a half game out of first place after beating Seattle and winning their fourth straight. Jarrod Saltalamacchia hit a grand slam in the tenth inning to break the tie with Seattle. Vicente Padilla had an impressing start for the Rangers by going eight innings allowing one run, one hit, and four strikeouts.

10 Blue Jays 6 Indians: Cleveland's bullpen is a mess and it doesn't help that former Giant Vinnie Chulk is in it. The Indians gave up seven runs in the seventh inning against the Blue Jays. Adam Lind hit a three-run home run and Scott Rolan hit a solo shot to give the Jays some much needed runs. I can already see Indians manager Eric Wedge being the first coaching causality of the season.

Bobby Scales Quote: Bobby Scales made his major league debut with the Cubs at the age of 31 after spending 11 seasons in the minors. He is a substitute teacher in the offseason. This is what he said, after going 1-for-4 against the Giants. “I knew for a fact that I could play here. That never wavered. Whether you get opportunities or not, that’s not up to me. No matter what happens the rest of the way, they can’t take it from me. I got it. I earned it. And I’m just fortunate to have it.” I was rooting for him all game.

Picture of the day: Bengie Molina has gas!

  1. I thought Leyland was out of his mind when he batted Josh Anderson 1st, Clete Thomas (who?) 3rd & Curtis Granderson 5th. It worked...for one game at least.
