8 Indians 4 Toronto: Anthony Reyes pitched the Indians to their first victory of the season. Reyes pitched 6 innings 3 hits and 4 runs, but the Inidans offense decided to show up. Both Mark Derosa and Travis Hafner both had 2-run home runs for Cleveland.2 Reds 0 Pirates: Reds pitcher Aaron Harang pitched a 3-hit shutout of the Pirates. More impressively, Harang had nine strikeouts and zero walks. Brandon Phillips provided the two runs by hitting a home run.
6 Royals 4 Yankees: Joba Chamberlain had a nice outing for the Yankees, but the New York relievers couldn't hold onto the lead. The Royals scored three runs with two outs in the eighth inning to pick up the win. Royals catcher John Buck homered and drove in three runs.
5 Angels 4 Red Sox: This game got a little testy at the beginning. In the first inning Red Sox pitcher Josh Beckett threw a ball over the head of Angels hitter Bobby Abreu. This started a bench-clearing incident. Abreu though would get his revenge by hitting a go-ahead two-run double off of Beckett.
3 Cardinals 0 Astros: St. Louis pitcher Kyle Lohse, and Hamilton City, CA native, pitched a three-hit shutout of the Astros. At one point, he retired 24 straight Astro hitters. Lohse also didn't give up any walks and he struck out 4.
Worst of the Night:
- Josh Beckett allowed four runs and eight hits in six innings. He was also called for a balk.
- The Nationals are still winless. I have a feeling that it's going to be a long season in the District.
- The Royals uniforms from last night.
- Our good friend Brian Bass is at it again. The Orioles reliever gave up 7 runs and 8 hits in 3 1-3 innings. His ERA is 16.88
- Tim Lincecum and the Giants looked horrible this weekend.
- Daniel Murphy's error in the 2nd inning cost the Mets the game. At least the New York newspapers aren't all over him.
Quote of the Day: "I was glad to get this one," manager Eric Wedge
