This Is The Best Cleveland Can Do

On Wednesday, Cleveland Browns announced they have hired former Jets coach Eric Mangini to be their next head coach.

The Browns fired former coach Romeo Crennel after a disappointing season 4-12 season when there were a lot of expectations that the team could reach the playoffs.

The 37-year-old Mangini signed a four year deal with the Browns. Mangini started his coaching career with the Browns in 1994.

When Mangini arrived in New York in 2006, the Jets were rebuilding. He lead them to a 10 win season and a seat in the playoffs. By the end of his tenure, people in New York weren't sad to see him leave.

Mangini went 23-25 in three season's with the Jets and was the head man during their end of the season collapse this year. So the question has to be asked. Is this the best Cleveland can do?

Mangini is a carbon copy of Romeo Crennel. They are both Bill Bilichick guys, both defensive coordinators during their time in New England, and both have dry and dour personality's.

Also the defense will not get better. Both Crennel and Mangini run the same type of defense. And last year the Browns actually had a better defense than the Jets. So there is an area that won't approve.

This hire just doesn't make any sense. There were better people out there for the Browns. Someone who isn't a defensive guy that runs the 3-4 defense.

But after all, we are talking about the Browns.
