Jon Gruden to Norte Dame?

According to Profootballtalk.com, former Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Jon Gruden could become the next Norte Dame after the recruiting season.

The reason why Norte Dame wouldn't fire Charlie Weis wouldn't be fired until after recruiting season is to get recruits to the school and make it harder for them to transfer.

Weis who was speculated to be fired, was not let go until after Cincinnati coach Brian Kelly said he was staying at Cincinnati.

This would be another poor choice by Norte Dame if they carry out this plan. Say what you want about Weis but you shouldn't let him twist in the wind. Then you shouldn't also allow kids to commit to your school and then fire the coach they committed to. Also Gruden has no college experience.

While Gruden grew up in South Bend and always wanted to attend Norte Dame, he would be a poor choice. He hasn't coached in the college ranks in over 20 years. And we have seen with guys like Weis and former Syracuse coach Greg Robinson former NFL coaches are not always the best choice for the college ranks.

This will be an interesting story to follow.

  1. Oh my....Let's see....I can't stand Notre Dame and I can't stand Gruden. Suffice to say though this is an interesting story. Gruden coaching ND would give me another reason to not like them.
