Coaching Prospects

Each year there are the hot assistant coaches in the NFL that are looked at for NFL jobs. And with all the mid-season firings and the firings expected at the end of the year, lets take a look at some of the young assistant coaches around the league.

Steve Spagnuolo, NY Giants, Def. Coord, Age 49- Spagnuolo was one of the hottest assistant coaches last year after the surprising Giants Super Bowl run. The Redskins were so impressed that they where ready to offer the job to him last year. He eventually turned them down and went back to the Giants. He will be a hot prospect once again this year.

Jim Schwartz, Tennessee Titans, Def. Coord, Age 42- Schwartz has interviewed for several jobs, and was the runner-up to Mike Nolan for the San Francisco job in 05. His defense has been one of the best in the league this season, which will only bring attention to himself.

Paul Pasqualoni, Miami Dolphins, Def. Coord, Age 59- While he is older than most coaching prospects, he has more experience than most. He was a successful college coach at Syracuse and has been a successful NFL assistant since then. Bill Parcells is really high on him, which would make him a target for any coaching vacancy.

George Edwards, Miami Dolphins, LB Coach, Age 41- Any person who is good enough for Bill Parcells, is good enough for the rest of the league. And Edwards in no exception. Edwards has also earned his shot. He has coached in college and the pros and has tutored many young players and has lead them to the pro bowl.

Josh McDaniels, New England Patriots, Off. Coord, Age 32- McDaniels has been the hottest coaching prospect ever since he lead one of the most explosive offenses in NFL history in 2007. And this year may have been McDaniels greatest achievements. He is without Tom Brady and has a quarterback that hadn't started a game since high school and they are very close to clinching a playoff spot.

Pepper Johnson, New England Patriots, DL Coach, Age 44- New England's defensive line has been one of the biggest strengths of their team during the Super Bowl runs. Johnson has been there the entire time. Plus he is another Parcells guy, which is always a good thing.

Bruce Arians, Pittsburgh Steelers, Off. Coord, Age 56- Arians has only been an offensive coordinator for only a couple of years, but he is a Pittsburgh assistant. Also the Pittsburgh offense has improved under his watch.

Mike Mularkey, Atlanta Falcons, Off. Coord, Age 47- Mularkey was once a head coach for the Buffalo Bills. But this year is his biggest achievement. He has a rookie quarterback that lead them to the playoffs. Mularkey's name will come up at every coaching vacancy.

These names will be just some of the names mentioned. Bill Cowher will also be linked to every head coaching job to.
